show was even worse. Good God, when will these idiots stop ruining college football? We all now definitely know who got all the beauty and talent in the Simpson household. Oklahoma fans have to wonder what it is about Bob Stoops and his bowl preparations that just seem to be really bad. A great job to get the Sooners to bowls and title games, but it just seems to be not ready to play. I know they won one, but heck he and the Sooners lost an Indy Bowl to Ole Miss. I know this might piss some of you off, but USC is a friggin juggernaut! But they should be, and should have always been a Top 5 team every year. They're in the second largest metro area in the country and have the pick of the top athletes in California every year. They are as fast as any SEC team I've seen and have studs in every skill position, the O-line is very good and the glude that holds them together is having a QB like Lienart who can get those studs the ball in order to make plays. And oh by the way, the Trojan defense is pretty darn stout too. Those tweener LB / SS guys they've got just make play after play. Much the same way Eric Alexander played such a big role for LSU in last year's defense. LSU has studs too offensively - a stable of RBs and a plethora of WRs - but we've got to have a QB who gets them the ball consistently and an O-line to provide the protection. :helmet: :geaux:
That was the worst halftime show ever. The sound wasn't right and the performances were pretty bad, with Simpson being the absolute worst. Kelly Clarkson's mic didn't even work for about 30 seconds. Normally, I might feel bad about a teenage girl being booed offstage, but Simpson's a fraud created and perpetuated by greedy music companies. She obviously wasn't lip-synching last night, and it became clear she can only scream, off key screaming at that. Can't we just have two college bands play songs, have a little game analysis, and move on to the second half?
The Indy Bowl comment is a touch unfair, if only because it was his first year in Norman. That was a close game, if I remember correctly. I'll cut Bob a little slack: in a game in which his team had very little margin for error given the opponent, they choked in many regards. I mean, if you can't trust a 6 year senior who could have easily won back to back Heisman trophies to manage your offense well in a big game, then who can you trust? Also, given USC's talent and speed at WR and their accurate QB, Okie's defensive success depended on linemen pressuring the QB. They couldn't do it, and what you saw happen last night was the result. They got into a hole early against a great team that, like a champion should do, put their opponent away and never let them get back up off the ground. USC sure looks like, in retrospect, a team that did play down to the level of its opponents on occasion this year but always had an extra gear to go to when they needed it. The only USC game I watched from start to finish was the Stanford game and, it just seemed, that they knew they'd come back in the end. That's confidence, and they're the best team in football this season. Hats off to them.
What is it with Ashlee Simpson? How did they come to the conclusion that we would want to see her at halftime, especially after he fake singing on SNL?
The "Talent Committee", or whatever they call the morons who put together that show, probably booked Simpson before the SNL fiasco. But that doesn't anwer why they thought she (or any of the three for that matter) were worth getting. That whole show was BAD!
Yeah, they call themselves the BCS...the same people that booked OU in the Orange Bowl too. :hihi: :hihi:
Don't kid yourself, Auburn wouldn't have fared much better than OU against USC last night. At least this way you can talk about your woulda-shoulda-coulda national championship instead of getting your behind handed to you like Oklahoma did.
I remember how great the old Orange bowl halftime light shows were and if I remember right the Disney folks had a lot to do with them. I know ABC is owned by Disney but whomever put that show together should be banned, it was abysmal. And what was with the U2 video deal? I'm a huge U2 fan, but here's a portion of the video now go log on to watch the rest? Huh...how stupid. In other words, stop watching ABC and go run to the computer, makes no sense. Cottonijoe, I agree bring back the battle of the bands or something. Have the SWAC vs. the MEAC battle. Heck, USC has a good band why could they've just shown some outrageous skit they put on. Plus, any inclusion of the female USC cheerleaders in those white sweaters who are just smoking hot, would've been far better than that debacle.
