I don't post here very often but I spend a lot of time reading here at TigerForums.com. I rely on you guys to keep me up to date with all of the news from Tiger land and I thank all of you for contributions to the community. But... All of the whining and complaining lately has gotten a little old. I think a lot of our problems, myself included, stem from the fact that we miss the days of Rohan and Josh, the wide open offenses, gaudy stats, and huge point totals that we used to put on the scoreboard. We watch Texas and USC and think that our offense looks vanilla in comparison. I think we have to realize that those days are gone... not just for us but for everyone in the SEC. The defenses are just too talented and have too much speed to play that way. In this day and age games are won by taking care of the football and winning the field position battle. I believe that you are making a mistake if you ask your quarterback to drop back and wait for those 25 and 30 yard pass patterns to develop. You just can't protect him that long. Am I completely sold on Les Miles? No, something about him makes me uneasy... I can't quite put my finger on it but for some reason I just don't feel completely comfortable about him. I don't know why. On the other hand, I do feel that he has assembled a very good staff and think we are still headed in the right direction as a program. And we are winning... maybe it's ugly... but it sure is exciting! :geauxtige Dave
i agree, i honestly think it is more exciting for me as a fan to watch a tough close game with great defense because well thats what football is about offense and defense not just offense. not that crap the pac-10 call football where u just try to score as much as u can and hope u can out score your opponent instead of trying to play defense to stop them from scoring.
I agree 100% with cul2969! Frankly Ive been away from the forum for a couple weeks because of all the nit picky bashing and complaining. Its the first time in the two years Ive read this forum that it wasnt enjoyable anymore. Who cares if we win ugly, just win.
I know exactly what you mean. He still seems a bit tentative, to me. I know that he's a lot more comfortable in his position than when the season first started. But I think a certain amount of apprehension or unfamiliarity still exists. This is the most difficult conference in America to adjust to, just ask Urban. No wait, ask him again in a couple of years, when he's actually able to run his gimmicky system and it still doesn't work. I'm also relatively certain that all the firepower that Les has is more difficult to get ahold of than you would think. Sure, it seems like the coach's job is that much easier if he's surrounded by gobs and gobs of talent. But I don't think that's necessarily true. When you've got that much talent, it just takes you that much longer to evaluate everyones strengths and weaknesses.
Poor Urban (Legend) Meyer is getting a sobering education now that he is playing in the big leagues (SEC).
