Well, the game is over and this loss stings REAL bad. I never would've thought we'd get dominated so much in this game. Not trying to make excuses, but playing 11 straight games (which included the bulk of our conference schedule) has really shown. Regardless, this team is 10-2, which still speaks volumes about our players, considering what happened at the beginning of the season. I've never been a fan of Miles, but I won't sit here and blame this on him. Our talent is what got us to the SECCG, though, in my honest opinion. This team has fought so hard all season, especially when there were many people who were ready to write the season off after the loss against Tennessee. The true character of this team has been a highlight all year. Even when this game was pretty much over, they still played hard and played with a lot of pride. I'm proud of what this team has done all year. They certainly exceeded my expectations and I'm sure a lot of other's as well. Let's put this behind us and look forward to the bowl game and end this season on a high note! GEAUX TIGERS!!! :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
No doubt about it. Still a very good year, especially in light of the circumstances. It's easy for people that have never played sports to underestimate the significance of losing TWO bye weeks. Not to mention dealing with tragedy on their doorstep. I'm proud of our team, regardless of the significant beatdown tonight.
The notion that we played too many games in a row without a rest is a fallacy, given the fact that we traditionally do not play well after an open date. Besides, we had an extra day off to rest up for this game, since our last game was on a Friday, instead of a Saturday. I do not believe that our performance was an abberation or "just one bad game." This is our team's identity this year: we start slow, we make a lot of mistakes, and we look very sloppy at times. It just so happens that our identity caught up to us tonight. It seemed to me that the game was over, as soon as Georgia went up 14-0.
This hurts. This will sting for awhile for sure but the Tigers are great. We have a great coach and things will be looking up. We need to end the season with a win the bowl game.:usaflagwa :laflagwav :geauxtige :thumb:
It seems that the intensity declined over the last few weeks so you may be right, but we'll see if it was fatigue or not in the bowl game. The team will have several weeks off and a chance to adjust whatever the issues may be. I will miss this group of seniors and hope they go out a winner in whatever bowl they play in.
I have to agree with Jean here. We have played with fire all year and been lucky to come out on top in those games before getting burned. Just look at the mistakes and penalties this team commits. WAY too many. I'm still proud of the Tigers for making the most in a tough situation. Its not easy, no matter how much talent you have, to break in a new coach nevermind all the hurricane stuff. We had a great year considering.
It means that we are still a slow-starting, sloppy-looking team that makes a ton of mistakes, despite the fact that our starters have one more year of experience. Do you think that things will improve once we have an overall younger team next year?
Like I said, I wasn't trying to use that as an excuse for the loss tonight. But you can't deny that playing 11 straight weeks of football took its toll on this team. Regardless of how we usually play after a bye week, that week can do wonders the players' minds and bodies. I can't disagree with you about the team's identity, those problems you listed have been haunting us all season. Let's just recoup and get ready for the bowl game...hopefully on Jan. 1!!!
