U.S. Army Prepares Armed "Robo-soldier" for Iraq January 24, 2005 ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, New Jersey - The rain is turning to snow on a blustery January morning, and all the men gathered in a parking lot here surely would prefer to be inside. But the weather couldn't matter less to the robotic sharpshooter they are here to watch as it splashes through puddles, the barrel of its machine gun pointing the way. The Army is preparing to send 18 of these remote-controlled robotic warriors to fight in Iraq beginning in March or April. Made by a small Massachusetts company, the SWORDS, short for Special Weapons Observation Reconnaissance Detection Systems, will be the first armed robotic vehicles to see combat, years ahead of the larger Future Combat System vehicles currently under development by big defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics Corp. I dunno how good they will be. I mean even the Gungans heald their own against battle droids. And like 5 Jedi could kill a million of thos e things. How many Jedi are in Iraq? I guess those would be Sith anyway. Dumb question.
Technology or not, I will put a machine on the battle field and die (be destroyed) much faster than an american.
This is a good thing for you and MarineTiger. I would much rather you guys retire and post on this board with me one day versus being wounded or dead on a battlefield. Who knows?
