ARE YOU F**ING KIDDING ME? USC v Va. Tech in Kickoff Classic in 2004

Just announced on 5PM Sportscenter, that they are in "negotiations"!

Those bastards! MAN, I hate Virginia Tech. Seriously!

On another note, why the hell aren't WE talking to USC about this game?????

It ought to be a slam dunk! We get a million in revenue per home game;wonder what we'd get for a kickoff classic?

We're going to have a Kansas State-like sorry assed schedule next year. If I remember correctly, I think we get Vandy in conference play, too.

I don't see a game that LSU can't win on that schedule...

Troy State, V Tech and Houston should be more than decent SOS for LSU. Get past the Georgia and Florida games and you are home free to an undefeated season. Florida will be a better team next year. Toughest game of the year in my opinion.

Va Tech isn't playing us next year because they "delayed" playing us until 2007. I suspect when it comes time for them to actaully play us they will send us $150,000 buyout and bring in a rent a win team to Blacksburg.

Besides SoS losing VTech really hurts an already weak home schedule.

Yeah, not the best season for the start of the surcharges. I can already fell the threads complaining about the weak home schedule coming in 7-8 months.

    The rumor mill continues.

Well, I have heard we were in negotiations to secure Arizona State. But ASU could not fit on the 2004 schedule, so they are coming in 2005.

Then I heard we were playing ULM again. But no, we merely switched ULM and Troy State.

Then I heard we were planning some kind of long range deal with Tulane, starting with them coming to our place in 2004 and us returning the favor in 2005. But I have heard nothing else about it.

Then I read in the Reveille we were possibly gonna play Maryland at home in 2004, and then pay them back somewhere down the road. But I have also heard no follow up on that story.

So, you're guess is as good as mine. I tell you this though, the 2004 schedule is looking just as bad as this year's if we replace Va. Tech with a patsy or a 1-AA team (God, please not again!) Vanderbilt and Miss. State brings the quality of our conference slate way down, and we cannot count on Alabama bouncing back next year. Houston and Troy State are pretty decent midmajors but their presence on the schedule will be for nought if we don't A) replace Va. Tech with a high quality or at least acceptable opponent and B) win all our tough road games. The road schedule is absolutely brutal next year.
