I think I heard some rumors about this during the season. I have to admit, I'm that guy that would be happy with no replay screen and would love for all corporate ads to be taken down, but I realize its pretty much standard these days and can live with it.

I guess I'm for it but I'm worried that they'll put up some huge monstrosity in the place of the current boards. I'd like to see them leave the shape and size of the scoreboard structure in place and see if the can improve the visual size and clarity within those constraints. I'd be most unhappy if the powers that be jumped into the jumbotron arms race and put up some enormous (so enormous it looks down right dumb) screen like Texas did and a few other places are rumored to be doing.

Red, I'm sure you've got some input/info about this. Its ok, you can make fun of me again for not wanting to change/abandon Tiger Stadium EVER! :thumb:

No replay screen? Are you kidding, man? It's the best thing to watch, watch all those passes and hits again from a better angle. If there was no screen I would probably watch the game on TV instead..

If you will recall the Jumbotron played a huge part in the 2000 Alabam game, it kept Alabama from keeping the ball near the LSU goal line. Although the refs would never admit it, the replay of the play on the Jumbotron (which was showed over and over while the refs held a "meeting") clearly showed it was LSU's ball. Others may recall more of the details of the play, I can't recall the exact situation. Here is a pic of the players pointing to the Jumbotron. Instant replay in Tiger Stadium !

My problem is that they have jumbo ad's on the scoreboard that are the SAME SIZE as the jumbotron. Take out the one in the middle and put in a nice widescreen jumbotron. :D I'm sure the ad's have more than paid for the scoreboards by now.

Maybe they should also consider putting speakers on the other side of the stadium (behind the student section in the north). It's hard as hell to hear what's being said when the speakers are ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STADIUM.

That I agree. A gigantic screen would look good in Tiger Stadium.

Yes. I sit in the north endzone and when you can actually hear the sound it is always delayed anyway. But at least we are close to the band.

I haven't heard anything about replacing the Jumbotrons, but it must come up soon. Arkansas has a huge widescreen 'tron and Auburn is adding one this year I hear. LSU's are old and small, not very bright in the daylight, and must be replaced soon.

To keep up with the Jones and justify some future ticket price increase, LSU will no doubt put in bigger widescreen in at least one endzone at some point, who knows how soon. The sponsors billboards may disappear, but they will be replaced with loud garish commericals on those HD Jumbotrons.

Remember when they put in the strip digital dispays on the upper decks a few years ago and we all thought we'd see stats and scores during the game? They turned out to be mostly wall-to-wall advertising until everybody just started ignoring them.

It's better than the old sound system of the 60's and 70's which had horn speakers on both scoreboards. There was an echo on all announcements, unless you were squarely on the 50-yard line.
