I read an article about how one of the London bombers had received training and had gone to school in North Carolina. Also, whenever Saddam Hussein's sons were killed after getting traped in that building, they found that they were drinking Pepsi. My questions is, why do these guys denounce everything America stands for and oppose completely our efforts in the Middle East, yet also take advantage of what we have to offer? Putting aside your true feelings about the war in Iraq, think about this. Is it that they envy what the United States has and what countries like the UK have? I think that, basically, they hate us and hate what we are doing. But I think their is something deeper. Something that causes them to use our products but then want to kill us. That's why, in a way, I think that they are huge hypocrites. It would be like someone denouncing football for being a vile and violent sport yet watching it for personal gain....
They are much like the drunk that walks the isle every Sunday for forgiveness. They know they are going to partake in some sort of western culture if even in a small way, but they cant stand themselves for doing so. they are brainwashed, just like David Koresh Brainwashed the branch Davidians. Just like Hitler brainwashed a Nation with nationalism to capitulate to murdering millions of jews or turning a blind eye to it at the very least. the "pull" of western culture and modern civilization is great, but they are fighting it tooth and nail. if you notice the most HIGHLY educated of their group are the ones that PREACH the loudest agaisnt western civilization. if the MASSES of ISLAM faith found out the truth...... it would upset their whole apple cart and their position, stature and possibly wealth would cease. Just like in Old Mexico, El Presidento had to keep the Peons poor so he can rake in the nice stuff. The Osama's and Saddam's of the world stand to lose the most... money and power.
So are you saying that we are "brainwashing them." Or are you saying that they are being brainwashed by a powerful machine (USA) that has no control over its greater reach?
Their religion has them brainwashed. the "human" natural tendency is to "drink" the pepsi. They'd rather try to get forgiveness than permission. Their religious leaders actually haved them conditoned to feel guilty :dis: for the simple act of enjoying something innocent, just because it is from the horrid evil west. They are brainwashing themselves.
Hypocrites? Absolutely. Anyone that kills in the name of 'religion' is a hyporcite of the highest degree. Their partaking in Western activities and product consumption is but a microcosm of how dramatically they are being misled (or misleading themselves). I wouldn't go so far as to say that they desire everything that we have, but they are certainly envious of our power and influence. I've come to the realization that the term 'infidel' has evolved to represent little more than a person or persons that is a member of a class more powerful than their own.
They realize, at some level, that their culture is doomed to the scrap heap of history. And some rail against it with every fiber of their being, because, in the end, they sense that they've lost and that they are the losers of an epoch. It's pretty significant when they realize that all they've ever been taught and know, and believe in, is not the center of the universe, but a pitiful, disdained thing.
I've sometimes felt that they feel they have been give a raw deal and that the only person to lash out against is the societies that didn't get a raw deal and have tons of opportunity.
Very good explanation because that is exactly what I believe. The wealthy, powerful upper classes preach this stuff about the west to largely poor, uneducated masses. We are to blame for their misfortune. By doing this and closing off to the west they keep their wealth and power.....if the poor knew what we were really about they'd all be listening to Brittany and talking freedom. Then no more money for the Mullah's.
Islam, at its roots has very noble goals as most religions do. The trouble is with the muslims themselves. It should be remembered that for every well-educated arab sheik with a degree from Stanford, there are about a half-million muslims that are uneducated, unemployed, raised by women that are even more illiterate and get most of their information from holy men who have memorized the Koran but can't read a newspaper. These boys just ain't very bright. They can't even practice their religion properly. One of the reasons they are so hard to fight and so hard to deal with is that they don't know what the hell is going on. Nothing they do makes sense.
