So I finally got my new ar 15. I got the bushmaster .223 I got optics and collapsible front site... curious if anyone has an ar and what accessories you may have outfitted it with. I have ordered a foregrip.

Did you get the red dot sight? I don't have one but shot one for the first time a few weeks back. Sweet gun, just don't have a "real" use for it, personally. What are you going to use it for?

I don't have one either. A friend of mine owns a gun shop. He was telling me how the AR-15 was made to replace another heavier gun that was 9+ pounds. The AR came out at 6.something pounds but people put so many accessories on them that the weight goes right back up. He told me he doesn't personally like the gun but loves selling them because people are always buying high profit margin stuff from him to mount on them. He let me try one out that had all kinds of stuff on it and I would need to get in better shape to shoot it very much. Pretty heavy.

Go with a reflex sight. I use one for turkey hunting and love it. Faster target acquisition. Mine is a Sure Shot Reflex Sight by Sight Mark.

Sounds right. I read a lot about people "building" their own.

i plan to hunt feral hogs and turkey here in Texas. They are begging people to come shoot them, Also I am an avid shooter I enjoy going to a range here locally and shooting.. I do not plan to use it for personal defense as I have two handguns for that one I carry and one next to my bed in a biometric safe with a tactical laser site..

I have a red dot in it and plan to add back up sites. Also ordered a new hand rail and laser site...
The bushmaster is very light actually I put 100 rounds in it today with no fatigue....

Red jacket local for many of you not for me anymore has some nice optics and accessories. Next time I am home I may drop in...

I think you have to have an appointment to get in there anymore.

I could've used one today. I was riding on some back roads and saw a yote in a field. The field was brown grass like most this time of year. The yote was about 100 yards and thought he was hidden. I often keep a .22 marlin in my truck when I'm off of work but had put it up last night cause I was supposed to bring 3 kids (cousins) with me to check a couple of hoop nets this morning.
