So how does someone decide when it has run its course and who will be brave enough to take a chance to rid us of this problem?
    OR
Will we be paying for our ancestors sins forever?
    OR
Can you talk about AA without considering what happened to the blacks all
    those years ago?
    and
Is thier AA for people other than blacks, I think I heard it applies to other minorities as well.

Hispanics also receive AA. Rfalco1, so now im a racist. Thanks for a quality discussion. African Americans still face racism today, definitely not to the degree in the 1950s, but it's there. AA is a debt the US must pay for its past sins, and when the playing field is balanced i will be the first one advocating to eradicate it, but right now it's needed.

LOTTERY ONCE AGAIN IGNORES THE POINT I MADE ! LOL !

The bottom line is that the University Of Texas lost their lawsuit against its own students who were rejected by their Law School in the face of superior testing and interview processes. The Fifth Circuit ruled against them, and hell, even Ward Connelly, the groundbreaking Regent of the University of Cal's far sighted and far flung sprawling system has stated and led the charge against the elimination of said affirmative action policies in the admissions process in the entire UC system. Did I mention Ward Connelly is black?

These are two sterling examples that fly in the face of what you generalize to be the real demographic set that is against AA: Students and one of the most respected and beyond reproach University Officials in the academia.

Two perfect examples that prove my point, and disprove yours. Yet, like the first post, you'll ignore my point...

That point, I might reiterate, is that blacks sold their own race into slavery. BLACKS DID IT. BLACKS INITIATED IT. BLACKS WERE LEADERS ON THE SUPPLY END. THEY PROVIDED THE SUPPLY! YOU CANNOT GET AROUND THIS. Blacks have more at issue with their own ancestors than they do whites, because while whites bought them once they were IN bondage, THEY WERE CAPTURED AND SOLD INTO BONDAGE BY THEIR OWN RACE.

I am not sidestepping the responsibility of our collective white ancestors. I'm pointing out the inherent irony with disavowing (Or better yet, in the classic liberal mold, totally ignoring main tenets of any argument to reiterate what you previously stated instead of dealing with what someone said) the very existence of these facts.

BLACKS SOLD BLACKS INTO THE SITUATION THEY FOUND THEMSELVES IN. BOTTOM LINE. WHY DO BLACKS NOT DEAL WITH THIS?

I AM!! I had no part in the decision to bring Africans to this country. I never owned a slave. I've never even seen a slave. This white man has no guilt about slavery.

Reparations are the biggest bunch of crap I've ever heard of. You want a government check in the mail??? Go to work and claim 0 dependants on your income taxes. That way you can get reparations every year.

i dont feel even the slightests responsibility for anything my ancestors did, even if my father killed your father, who cares, that isnt me. what are we, tribal cavemen?

i dont even really identify with white people, i just dont care. i see no reason to be proud or care at all about your heritage, no matter who you are. i am me, and that is all. anything else is irrelevant. it is too bad it seems like i am the only person who can see this.

Oh and whites weren't on the supply in also. Show me these numerous incidents when blacks sold their own, show me some sources. It happened but not to the extent you're making it out to be. You've gotta be kidding me. The blacks that sold others did it b/c they feared for their own families lives and sure their were some who were sick devils just as those white slave traders. Blacks didn't come up with the idea of the trans-atlantic slave trade, whites did, the US did. Stop trying to blame blacks for slavery, that is ridiculous. You as a white living today might not have responsibility but the US govt does and their is debt to be paid. Btw, for me to ignore your point you have to have one. lol

    Here you go numbnuts

Africans were sold by Africans to Europeans and 17,000,000 were sold to Arabs (most of them before 1776, when the USA wasn't even born). The legends of European mercenaries capturing free people in the jungle are mostly just that: legends.

Now, that has to be the funniest and stupidest thing I ever read. I know even you don't believe that garbage. But back to being serious, do you guys believe that

    1. the U.S. government committed a disgusting sin by allowing the slave trade to go on.

    2. the U.S. govt wrongly allowed to slavery to persist well after just about every other civilized country outlawed it.

    3. the U.S. govt persisted in discriminating against blacks well into late 1960s and even 1970s

    4. the U.S. govt owes blacks a reparation, not a monetary one but one the creates programs like AA, to make up for past wrongs that have set back black people back. I mean they couldnt even vote till late 1900s.
