Back at the Lair they spent unheard of amounts of space on how terrible the Tiger Stadium field was this year. There was the fire and brimstone warnings that we would lose more than one of our stars from the horrible sand field. If nothing else, the field would take away our speed advantage.

In person and on TV the field, even for games with heavy rain, has been outstanding. It has held up marvelously throughout the season even though it was played on during heavy rains and immediately following heavy rains.

Just more to complain about I suppose.

Actually there was something wrong with the field. It was infested with Tigers.

Why would the Lair spend time talking about that? The field is about to be replaced anyways.

It was a "huge" concern after many fans were on the field for football fan day at the beginning of the season. They saw patches of sand where there was no grass. Many, many long threads on the Lair addressed this issue. Most said we needed to get a new field crew who knew how to plant grass. Others said that we should get the new artificial grass that so many stadiums now use.

Can I ask a legitimate question? Do any of you know what kind of grass they use in Tiger Stadium? It doesn't look the same as other fields I've seen. Not the same shade of green or something.

It could have just been the lighting and the ESPN cameras...I've never seen it in person. Just curious.

This is not a flame or anything, I promise. I watched football all day on Saturday and your field just looked slightly different than the others I saw.
