1. I want to buy a new car with the following...

    1) SUV
    2) Good gas mileage nice...but not a requirement
    3) No Flex-Fuel, Green, or Hybrid vehicle
    4) Made by a company not controlled by a Union

Any recommendations (make, model, price) for a good quality vehicle? I don't want a penny going to a greedy union or for make believe Al Gore carbon footprints.

  2. well i guess ford, chrysler and gm are out the picture. even toyota workers have a union but it's not that powerful like the domestics are.

i'd say look at toyota or honda. stay away from kia and hyundai.

    midsive suv's:
    toyota highlander
    honda pilot
    toyota 4runner (great resale)

    smaller suv's:
    honda crv
    toyota rav4
    mazda tribute
  3. Very happy with my Honda Pilot.

FWIW: Mixing politics and auto purchasing may drive you buying a substandard auto that will frustrate you for years to come. I'd buy the best and engage my politics elsewhere. Just a friendly opinion.
  4. I have a Nissan Murano. It's nice
  5. love my highlander.
  6. My wife has a 2008 4-Runner and she's in love with it. Gets about 22 MPG and rides like a car (at least compared to my '97 F150).
  7. I have a 99 4Runner. It is bomb proof and more importantly, blond proof. We use it for every day runnin but here is the deal, the seats suck. Any travel over 2 hours and you need a chiropractor. Any feedback on the newer seats? Once I get done beating the hell out of this one, I plan for another and if I hafta, I will replace the seats. What say the wife???

  8. a friend of mine who could drive any car sold on any lot in the state still drives his 89 4runner. it looks like it's been bombed a few times. he replaced the transmission after 300k miles and 3 sets of seats in 20 years. he's currently at 380k miles.
  9. The secret to the former is the latter. I wish I had that kind of discipline, but that is exactly how wealth is formed.
  10. kept my '87 until some guy totaled it when i was at 300k miles. got a '99 after that. great car.
