Are you referring to us (The people of Louisiana that live in Texas because of a job) ??? Just curious.
Agree except when the Service Academies are involved... I think Navy, Army and Air Force get a pass for respect... Those men are going to be taking bullets one day for those players who are jumping up and down.
no no no, i mean actual texas people. you are from Louisiana...therefor...you ARE Louisiana im talking about the people who wear big belt buckles, cowboy boots, starched texas flag button down shirts just to go get the paper. im talking about the people who pledge allegiance to the texas flag and wherever they go..shout..."im from texas"
texans my great grandfather told me that he can still thinks about the great texas louisiana war. he said when he was a child he would stand at the bank of the sabine and texans would throw sticks of t-n-t at him. my great grandfather said he would pick them up then light them and throw them back across.
Mesquite, My sentiments exactly. I am also a prisoner here in Texas. They are forever making jokes on Louisiana and proclaiming how great Texas is. That stuff gets old quick.
You're right.....To an extent though. If a team can't stop you, then yes, by all means keep playing. It's their defenses job to stop you from scoring. ...But a flea-flicker with 4 minutes left in the game and a 31-17 lead??? Look, line up and go at them. TT is a passing team, so no doubt that's their strength and that's what they'll do 80% of the time--but do it right. Trick plays aren't the way to go.
Hence the reason those of us from the Great State of Louisiana hate it here... Because of the arrogance and Holier then thou attitude of people from this state, the contant ridicule we recieve because we are proud of where we are from. Now for those of you who say to us here in Texas "Just move, interstates are free" We have Jobs that put us here (At least in my case) I have a great job and work for a great company. I am not the only one in a place they hate but are here doing a job. Every review I am laying ground work to move back home. Where I belong... Geaux Tigers F Texas.
I moved to Houston in June of 2001 after finishing at LSU. I had a general dislike of all schools in Texas but not a real hatred of any. I feel like I understand the personalities a little better now. A&M is a cult. They are OBSESSED with Texas and think it's funny to call them "TU" instead of "UT." Fran has made them enemy #1 for me personally. They think they're above Texas Tech and absolutely HATE to lose to them like they've done the past couple of years. Texas thinks they're above A&M and Tech and hate losing to Oklahoma (obviously). They know they should be BCS material and it kills them that they're not. LSU's loss to Florida was the same weekend as Oklahoma crushed Texas and I remember thinking "At least I'm not a Texas fan." I think those thoughts often. Texas Tech is mostly hick redneck fans with poor hygiene. They probably have the highest per capita belt buckles and cowboy boots. They're biggest rival is A&M. But the thing I think I hate most about Texas is that Deep in the Heart of Texas song. I just don't get it. I root for the Rockets & Astros but I have for a long time. DD has made me a Texans fan and I'm over the Gaffney/Josh Reed pick now. I look at Houston as Lafayette's (my hometown) big brother. It's the biggest oil town around and has some cool things about it. The most important is that it's only a 3 and a half hour drive from Lafayette to visit family & friends. I may live here 50 years but I'll never be a "Texan."
Let's discuss Texas, shall we? I was unfortunate enough to have to go to school in Texas (Baylor) because my dad forbid me to go to LSU (he is a USL alum). I still went to more LSU games then Baylor when I was in college, and I catch crap daily from Texas folks because I am from Louisiana, cheer for LSU, but live here. I live here becasue my wife is from Dallas, and ultra attached to her family. You cannot argue with a woman...for those not married, remember that. I have taken her home to Reserve many times, tried to convince her to move back to the motherland, but she will not do it. I even told her she would not have to get a job! Texas folk are very proud of their heritage, at the expense of degrading others. If you were to give a Texas or A&M fan crap after losing a football game, you might be getting into a fist fight depending on how much razzing they have already taken. The cowboys are ok, the Mavs and Stars are awesome. Dallas is too busy and trendy, and I long for the quiet comforts of southern Louisiana. I just want to go home!
Don't be too hard on 'em. They have been punished enough. They have to live in Lubbock. And after all, this is the school that is proud to have hired Booby Night. :geaux:
