Is mauck going to Dental school and declaring for the NFL or is he putting off Dental school and tryig only to make an NFL squad. If his choices were NFL and dental school or LSU then he made a good descision but if his choices were LSU or dental school or NFL then why not come back and improv your stock for the draft. I think it is a no brainer that he could improve talent wise and stock wise with another year of college ball. When he made his statement yesterday I thought he could do both NFL and dental school at the same time and thought hey good idea but if it is either one or the other and he is putting dental school off any way then he would have been better off coming back no matter what his age IMO. Either way good luck to him and thanks for thetime he gave us.

Tommy Casanova earned a medical degree in the off seasons while he played in the NFL. It can be done.

If he makes it a couple of years in the NFL, he's got dental school paid off. If he doesn't make the team then he starts dental school like he planned on anyway. LSU football just wasn't in his future plans.

not in this day and age

The NFL game has changed drastically since the days of cassanova and cannon. It's a full time job - 365 days a year. Although some of the mini camps that NFL teams have leading up to the july camp are termed "voluntary", its in the best interest of most players to be in attendance (esp. someone like mauck who prob won't be drafted higher than the 5th rd.) there's no way a player could handle the rigors of med school and the NFL - impossible.

Casanova didn't do them at the same timeeither except a course here and one there during the summer and he said that in an aticle recently that it would be impossible to do. We are just saying that Matt can give the NFL a shot, amke what he can and then when he's finished go to Dental school.
