Really? 2 different US Marshals are in the habit of telling tales? Ok, I guess, but they're not really telling tales. They're just expressing their opinions?

    Quite a coincidence.

OK. Opinions are not evidence. And why did it take them 50 years to remember this?

What is a coincidence? Did you read the memo's?

Of course opinions aren't evidence, but they're based on evidence. The former and current lead agents on the case both believed they made it and they've seen it all. The 50 year thing is valid criticism. I have no idea or answer for that.

I think it's a coincidence that they happened to find a raft on Angel Island a day or so after the escape, yet it wasn't tied to the escape. And yes, the one memo did mention that there were foot prints leading away from it.

Those memos provide no evidence. They are just notes to one another with what they knew at the time it was happening. None of this "evidence" ever made it into the official reports. There is much to be suspicious of here.

The memo said that two rafts were found and neither of them was homemade. Footprints are found wherever people walk. Any people.

I know that it may be possible that the convicts escaped. It is also possible they were rescued by Bigfoot who carried them to Shangri-La where they live with Elvis. It's just not very likely. I will wait for incontrovertible evidence.

Your prerogative, obviously, but the more years that go by, the less chance that will happen. The new documentary just presented new theories that showed how they could have done it without have to swim or row against a strong current and the photo provided by the family is compelling, but admittedly not definitive, evidence.

What are the chances someone could get DNA from one of those chaps?

Slim. If they did escape they both would have been over 80 and might have died. Only way would be to find out where the guys in the photo were either living or buried.

Supposedly it was taken in Brazil. The family has hired an investigator to see if they can find any additional information about the dudes in the photos.

They might have had kids if they had escaped. They would still need an example of the DNA from the prisoners. They used their own hair to make the masks, which I presume were preserved as evidence. There is your DNA. If the conspiracy theorists come up with a person under 50 whose DNA shows that he is a descendant to the prisoners . . . that is evidence. Anything short of that is speculation.

From what I've read, the hair came from a prison barbershop, where one of them worked, which was collected over an unspecified period of time.
