that in addition to not showing up for a required physical, GW Bush skipped out on a critical readiness drill.

And Republicans like his father and Bob Dole have the utter nerve to besmirch John Kerry's service.

Kerry was getting shot at in Vietnam while Bush partied stateside with drugs and alcohol.

And now while our soldiers get shot at, Bush frequently goes on vacation. (42% of his presidency, by CBS's calculation.) Seems like throughout his entire life, including now his tenure in the White House, Bush's only true commitment was and is to his own vices and greed.

    Rex,
I have a question for you: are you serving or have you ever served in the military? I just ask this because you seem so critical of President Bush for "skipping out". If you have never served, then I don't think you have any right to criticize Bush on his lack of service, just as you say Republicans like Bob Dole and George H.W. Bush criticize Kerry. If memory serves me right, both of those men served honorably in the military during WWII. Bob Dole was wounded to the point that he cannot even use one of his arms. George H.W. Bush was shot down over the Pacific and nearly taken P.O.W. on one of the worst Japanese-controlled islands to be taken prisoner (only one P.O.W. got off the island alive I believe). So again, please answer my question, otherwise, again, I don't think you have any right to be critical of President Bush's service. Also, with your point about vacation. So Bush goes to his Crawford, TX ranch a lot. Big deal. You could say its no different from a President going to Camp David every weekend. It seems to me like he can still run the country from there and make decisions. What do you expect him to do, run the country from Baghdad? I reject the statement that he is doing this for his own vices and greed. But, oh yeah, he's only in this for the oil, I forgot! Let's just completely forget about the fact that most people in that region have loathed the U.S. (and any other free nation for that matter) and our way of life for decades now.

the way i see it, the president is never really on vacation at all. i mean the way you and i think of vacation, where we just forget everything and chill out.

and when people say the president is on vacation just because he is in texas, that is pretty stupid. when your decision is essentially to be a decision maker, your location is almost entirely irrelevant.

Still waiting, Rex....what, are you too afraid to back up what you started here? If that's the case, don't start threads you can't finish, much less have conversations in. Oh, and if you're abiding by your whole "not responding to Republicans" policy, well guess what, I never made my party affiliation known in my post (because I don't think it has any relevance, whether I'm a Democrat or a Republican), so you have no reason to ignore me. C'mon, Rex...we're waiting.
