The clown from the state of Alabama.

He actually said on O'Reilly that the only purpose of the first amendment is the freedom to acknowledge god - because he's fighting for STATE, not individual, acknoledgement, this clown believes that the Bill of Rights stands for the power of the state, not the people.

At least this guy's honest - most of the "social conservates" agree that individual people have no rights and that all rights are beholden unto government and that whatever rights government bestows upon you are yours. That's what this case is really about - not religion, but the government power.

Are you sure you do not mean liberal environmental gun-control baby killing wackos? ie the right to actually own and control your property, the right of workers making a living versus protection of a tree, the right to carry arms, the right to be born and to live. Every side says the other wants to take away rights.

You gave no link, so I do not really know who or what you are talking about, but the Bill of Rights did initially only apply to the Federal Gov. It was set up as a limit to FED Government to get enough states on board. It was not until the 14th Amendment( this is off the top of my head no time to double check) that the started to get applied to states as well. There actually could have been a Church of Virginia before this. Some arguments say that this application of the 14th Amendment to limit state governments as well was based on legislating from the Judicial Branch not the actual words of the Amendment, but I have not looked at it in a long time.

I think he's talking about the Bama Supreme

Court Justice using the 10th Amendment (?) to keep the 10 Commandments up at the Bammy Supreme Court Building..
A nice little marble statue of a bible open to the commandments..
I believe he was elected on said platform....
Shades of George Wallace standing up against the Godless Feds....

Things are just different in Bammy......

Old times there are ner' forgotten.....
