How does Amp Hill compare to our returning receiver corps? It seems that we're pretty deep in talent.

From what I've heard, Amp Hill was on track to beat out Devery Henderson for a starting spot in the fall before injuring his knee.
    That's how good he is.

I'm not sure about that. Are you not thinking of Bennie Brazell who was our projected 4th WR? Can't imagine Hill starting in place of Henderson.

Anyway, Hill was the most impressive freshman WR before getting hurt...

I heard that on some other boards and sites as well. Nothing from an official site so I was never sure if true or not.

No, I'm pretty sure it was Hill I heard about...it sticks out in my mind, because, like you, I couldn't imagine a true freshman being
good enough to take a starting job away from a proven senior
    w/ Henderson's abilities.

Bennie Brazell reminds me a lot of Chris Cummings...speed to burn, but can't catch a cold. It doesn't take too much of a stretch
of the imagination to see him moving (like Cummings did) to DB
next year. He showed a definite ability to hit on special teams this year.

He wasn't on track to beat out Devery, Saban talked about him everyday and said he was playing himself into getting a lot of time on the field and that he was a playmaker. Now he may have ended up being the starting Wideout if hadn't got hurt but that wouldn't have been determined till he was able to perform in a game. He was up to the number 4 spot when he got hurt for sure though. From the way Nick raved about him early in the fall I think he must really be something special, he was one of the top receivers coming out of HS, rated 9th by Insiders I think. It will be interesting to watch the competition at WR this spring and hear the reports with all of this talent. Boy I wish Early would have been able to graduate in December. and if we get Carter also we will be loaded with all kinds of potential. According to insiders last year we had the 9th(Bowe), 10th(Hill) and 15th(Davis) best receivers in the nation and this year we already have the 1st(Doucet) and could possibly get the 2nd(Carter) this year. WOW!

Amp Hill was supposed to push for the #3 wideout position. So...I think it's safe to say that if THAT'S what was shaping up last season, then with the departure of Henderson and Clayton, expect Hill to be on the inside track with Skyler for the 1 and 2 receivers with Doucet battling Bowe for 3rd.

I think Skyler will stay in the slot, he's perfectly suited for it. Bowe, Hill and Davis are tall and big, strong kids and I would think they would be more suited as wideouts. Early is all of the above and could play anywhere, including RB. God we are loaded at the skill positions and where not even talking about many of the guys on our roster. I'm sure a few of these redshirt guys will step up and surprise us, just like JV did this year.
