Ok, LSU had the ball with 2 minutes left in the 1st half. Yes, they were on the 10 yard line, but who cares. This has happened so many times in the past few years. We just run the ball up the middle, and then after the tackle, we just take our time in the huddle and on the line of scrimmage. Why can't Coach Saban or Coach Fisher decide to go for the score? LSU was winning at the time 9 to 3. If we would've tried to go for the score, like most teams do, we could have been winning 12-3 or 16-3. I know most of yall would mention the "Bluegrass Miracle", but there was 2 seconds left and we HAD to do something like a Hail Mary pass. Tennessee was in a similar situation last year against Florida. They went for the score and they did score. They ended up winning the game at Florida. Any thoughts?
I didn't like us doing that at the half either but Oh Well The coaches did win us a NC last year. I think its safe to say that coaches make mistakes also and have to live with it.
I'm with you. I like aggressive approaches to games. No matter if you're winning 9-3 or 42-0, go for the jugular.
coaching philosophy says you are up on the road in your end of the field, you run the clock and keep the momentum. too much of a chance turning it over trying to make a long pass play. i had no problem with the decision.
Saban is a very aggresive defensive coach, and conservative on offense. I don't think he trusted the offense enough to drive down the field without giving up a turnover.
I like the Idea of going down field with so little time left in a tight game, but Saban's sytem has worked for him pretty well just not today.
I was wondering about that at the half.....I was only half way payin attention though. I thought they were pretty close to the endzone and then he just goes in the locker room. I thought maybe we weren't as close as i thought and just disregarded it. Now that you clarify though....yes that was kinda wierd....
If we would have went for the score, the outcome could have been totally different. You gotta take chances.
I have to agree with you on that. I always hated to see teams just run the clock out right before halftime with 1 or 2 minutes left on the clock. I understand their point of not wanting to make a costly turnover and going into the next half with the momentum, but you must play to win. Utilize every second you have on offense. I'd like to see more aggressive play calling in those kinds of situations, but I guess that's why I'm not the coach.
the choice also goes back to very little confidence in your qb/offense as well........ the truth hurts sometimes
