Am I crazy for having to give this a 2nd thought?

Absolutely not. The ONLY way to make it work is to dvr the game while you're at the World Series, go directly home with your car radio turned off or a cd in, and refuse to talk to anyone. Accept no phone calls, especially from fellow Tigers, do not pass go, do not collect $200 - and watch the recorded game at home immediately after with absolutely no outside information regarding the progression of scoring, etc...

Personally, there's really virtually nothing else I would commit to that conflicted with an LSU football game. One of my best friends got married in Donaldsonville on Friday, December 29th, 2000 at 7:00p.m....smack dab in the middle of the Peach Bowl against Georgia Tech. We drank as much beer as we could and waited until the last possible second to leave the hotel room and head over to the church with the tigers down 14-3 when we finally were forced on to "more important" matters.

Full Catholic ceremony with a twist: the wedding party (like 9 on each side) stood the entire time behind and flanking the priest, facing the congregation of about 400. There had to be at least 50 guys in there wearing ear-pieces and the entire time LSU is mounting its comeback, we're standing there with no discernible information but know that something is afoot as uncles, cousins, and various octagenarians...are being literally constrained by their wives, but poorly so.

Every 10-15 minutes there's a disruption as the guys with ear-pieces smile, laugh, cheer, and even incontrollably rise into the crouch position with excitement, failing only to leap to the full upright position. FINALLY some guys standing in the back were able to hand-sign us enough information for us to piece it all together. The wedding video shot from the back of the church (which was beautiful, incidentally) is hysterical - all the groomsmen are constantly doing the corner of your mouth attempt at ventrilloquism arguing over how to interpret our signals from the pews. A couple of us were even caught doing the white guy, upside down fist, elbow pull and pump, YESSSS thing at completely inappropriate moments.

The point is - we didn't have a choice in the matter and still found a way to enjoy the game. Following my suggestions from above, you may be able to do so as well. But really - you know in your heart what the right thing to do is man. It's the Auburn game.

    Cheers~

one additional edit: against your better judgement, do NOT attempt to diminish your guilt by wearing any LSU clothing to the baseball game - not even a purple or yellow shirt - it only increases the chance that someone will provide you with unsollicited information and screw the whole thing up.

There's a lesson to be learned from TigerinAustin's post, guys and gals... make sure to spread the word, and make sure to refuse to agree to any marriage date that falls anywhere within the realm of college football season (including BCS championship games). Get married between February and August, and encourage your friends and relatives to do the same, and you won't have these problems.

On a somewhat related note, once you're married, try your best to have all of your children be born within the same months - that way birthday parties won't conflict with LSU games either. ;)

I did this for the SEC Championship game in 01, went to a company Christmas party. Got up Sunday morning early, watched the game, fast forward through the commercials, it was as exciting as EVER! Not a bad way to go. I'd go to the baseball game and record the football game.

Well if you're gonna pull for the White Sox then stay home.....

I'll take the next flight out at about $1000 and meet you and get my deserved ticket to the game and cheer on my Astros

    Thank you

I wonder how this guy feels now.

If he recorded the LSU game, was he able to watch it completely without checking for a score. Did he find out before watching it?

    How was your weekend tigerintn?

I hope you went to the WS game. I remembered Sat. afternoon I was owed a day off and took it to watch the LSU/Auburn game on TV. So glad I did. If your choice was to be in Tiger Stadium or at the World Series it might have been a tough choice. But to actually go to a WS game rather than watch a game on TV....I would've gone to the WS game. When I lived in NY, I couldn't get a ticket to a WS game but I had a chance to play hookie from work and see the tickertape parade in Manhattan for the WS champions (1996 - Yankees beat the Braves in 6 for first Series title since 1978). I didn't go and have regretted it every day since. I hope you went.

    [Newman's Apartment]

Elaine and Kramer sit on Newman's couch. Elaine with her head tilted

back. Newman sits in his chair, his fingertips together, trying to give an

    Impression of limitless wisdom.

    ELAINE: So, that's the situation.

NEWMAN: Mmm. You present an interesting dilemma. Each of you seemingly

has a legitimate claim to the bicycle, and yet the bicycle can have only one

rightful owner. Quite the conundrum. :D

Had a great time at the WS game. At $8 a beer, I was able to remain pretty sober.

Oddly enough, I didn't have any trouble not hearing the LSU score on sports radio coming home from the Sox game.

Watched the LSU-Auburn game until about 2am. I was getting really nervous as a sense of deja vu was coming over me.

Overall, great weekend. If only Bama had lost, it would have been a clean sweep.

No regrets. In hindsight, it was the easy choice to make. It just felt weird being somewhere other than Tiger Stadium or watching the Tigers on a fall Saturday.

Aren't you glad you didn't trade for Sunday night. You would have seen a great game, but it would have been miserable sitting out there...
