http://osubeavers.ocsn.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/113003aaa.html No wins over SC in Los Angeles since 1960. Ouch.
How bout that...USC is playing for a chance to go to the National Championship with a win and they are expecting 70K at the game in a stadium that holds 92K...it did hold more than 105K years ago until it looked absolutely rediculous when half the stadium was empty so they blocked out one entire end-zone section with huge "TROJANS" letters...so now it's 92K.... That would be like LSU not putting a soul in either upperdeck for the Arkansas game.
If OSU pulls off the upset, I wonder if we'll get to see the USC version of Junior & Lulu among those 70,000.
Unbelievable. This is the team that has soo much tradition, and quality of a program?? One that can't fill its stadium with a National Title berth on the line?! Don't understand why so many media people are jumping on the USC bandwagon with fan support like that.
The link is at the top of the thread. It's where they give the stadium information and expected crowd.
Once again, this is going to be like Kentucky trying to beat Tennessee. Possible but highly unlikely!!
It's more like Vandy beating Tennessee. Lets see how many fans they averaged last year... They averaged 392,960, which is 78,592 per game in 5 home games. That is good for 28th in the country. Btw, we were 6th. Oh and also, out of the top 15 teams, 8 are sec schools, and they all averaged 100% capacity. Just goes to show they don't even have football fans.
L.A. is a bunch of squirrels...worse place in America...including Detroit. From the fruitcakes to the traffic to just about everyone being completely materialistic. People in L.A. think the world revolves around L.A. USC football is the last thing on most of these people's mind....DUDE, lets get a Mocca!
It's the TV market that matters, not the fans attending games. To ESPN and ABC, this is very important. An LA TV audience is expected to be huge if SC is in the Sugar Bowl, much higher than if LSU is in it (since SC has more of a "Q" rating among the casual national football fans). It is why the NFL is willing to move any of it's teams there in the next few years, no matter how well they are supported in their current city. It is why Trev said on national TV that we need to "hope and pray" for a SC/Okla Sugar Bowl. It's about money, advertisers, and who the casual college football fan would want to watch. Unfortunetly, LSU is not as well know nationally as college football powerhouse program, atleast not on the level as SC in the minds of bandwagon college football fans. Believe it or not, we are in the same position as TCU was at mid-season. Even we (the LSU fans) didn't want to play TCU in a bowl game, if they had made it to the BCS, because they are not some older storied program on the same level as SC, Okla, Mich, Flor St. ESPN and ABC do not want to see us over SC in the Sugar b/c SC will bring in more of a national audience. ESPN and ABC are hurting our chances, but then again if we beat FL, then this debate doesn't happen. We would be the #2 team in the country, no matter what SC did this weekend. Would Alabama, Tenn, or Florida be in this position . . . ranked #3rd to a PAC 10 2nd? I don't think so. It's about money and ratings, and how much ABC can get.
