That's the biggest load of crap you've ever posted as a rebuttal red. Look up the facts of that sorry piece of journalism and you'll see for yourself that it is worthless.

Look at the demographics that donated.
Look at the members of the military that they didn't count.
Look at the total number of donations.

There is a reason that no one is using that report anymore. About two minutes after it was first released...it was shot full of holes.

What a freaking joke. I would say that at least 70% of the military is very pro McCain. That number goes way up if you just look at combat arms (the ones doing the fighting)...I would say at least 85% with them support McCain.

Well, I posted a source and you pulled figures out of the air. Sorry if I'm not convinced.

It's a freaking joke to see one soldier on You Tube support McCain and think that is significant either.

Isn't there a much higher concentration of military enlistment from the south than any other region in the country? That would mean that a lot more soldiers are from 'red' states. I would say that the bias has a lot more to do with region than it does with occupation.

this young man is a fine example of a patriot and a hero. we all wish him well.

he is also a good example why individual soldiers never have and never should SET foreign policy for our or any other nation.

all their experience is at the individual level, not at the national interest and strategic level.

the individual is motivated by the officer corp to believe right is on their side, because it is the strongest motivation there is.

at any point in time, this reason, what is 'right' may coincide with the national interest, or not.

in WWII, the was a national consensus after pearl harbor that entering the war was right, no doubt.

in vietnam, we were told we had to save the south from falling to the commies, after which all of indo china would fall like dominos. but the cost we were paying was too high for the objective we sought and many doubted that indo china would fall. we quit the war, indo china did not fall, and it was proven that johnson and nixon's strategy was wrong. i hear vets who felt that way while fighting, some felt that way later, and some still think we should have stayed the course. i think the congress and the people strategically got it right, we made a mistake getting in, and getting out sooner than later was the right thing to do. this disagreed with those soldiers who put their faith in the president and military commanders NOT to send them to possibly loose their life unless the mission was strategically important, but the fact was they were misled by their president and commanders.

so we have this fine young man who at an individual level has bought in to the mission. are people in iraq better off without saddam? yes, now that sectarian violence has subsided (will it come back if we leave, probably). but that is not why we went there. there were no WMD, iraq had no collaborative relationship with al qaeda, iraq played NO role in 9/11, iraq posed no imminent threat to the us. reagan and bush I tolerated the bulk of saddams killings between 78 - 91, while we supplied him weapons to use against iran.

so the strategic reasons we were told we had to fight this war have all been proven false. we still have to motivate the soldiers to carry out the mission we send them on. some free thinkers who think beyond what their officers tell them don't believe in the mission, some accept what they are told. scott mcclellan, one of bush II's insiders has said we were sold the war by bush and the neocons.

is this young man who has been 'motivated' by his officers to do his job the guy you believe is best able to set the stategic direction of the nation regarding iraq? not for me.

the american public will yet again reach the correct conclusion, once we have all the facts, and not just the sales job the administration put on us, while withholding many key facts.

this young man believes in his cause, like a good soldier should, from the coaching he gets from his officers, and his own individual perspective, which is narrow. the majority of the nation disagrees about what our next strategic step should be, and i'll go with the big numbers and 5 years of info on this one.

No, he's absolutely right. Fire breathing, snake-eating, grunts like Salty, convinced of their motivation and dedicated to their craft are exactly the people we need at the tactical level. But we need another kind of person altogether at the strategic and operational levels. We need ruthless killers at the teeth end of the military machine, but we need thinkers at the brains end.

Right on the top of his head.
