Reading on CFN site: SEC Thoughts ... Summary Judgment Random thoughts on the world of the SEC, came across this little tidbit:

Rather than bore you with a mealy-mouthed platitude about how no coaching prospect is certain of success, an anecdote will suffice. In the summer of 1995, when Gary Moeller had his NWA moment at the Excalibur restaurant and Michigan was in the market for a new coach, a friend who attended Michigan went on and on about one dream candidate: Terry Bowden of Auburn, who was coming off of a 20-1-1 two year run on the Plains. That fall, when Michigan under interim coach Lloyd Carr began to fade after a good start, the friend then fixated on a new candidate: Gary Barnett of Northwestern, who was taking the Purple to Pasadena for the first time in years. Within a matter of years, interim coach Carr ended Michigan’s half-century national title drought, Bowden was fired by Auburn, and Barnett, unable to duplicate his ‘95-‘96 success, crawled to Boulder. The point of the anecdote is simple: the hot prospects of today often become the “how did anyone think this guy was bright?” casualties of tomorrow. Remember, Curly Hallman was also once a hot prospect.

    Funny

As the song says....everybody's looking for the next big thing. I'm wondering how long it'll be before the Trojan coach gets turned on by his own. And what a difference a year makes, ain't that right Tubby ?

Oh.....calling Curley Hallman a "hot prospect" a masterpiece of an overstatement.
