If anyone can bulk up Rolle it would be Gayle Hatch. My brother and I were on his weighlifting team back in HS. I only trained for a year or two but my brother did for 7 years. My brother was 5'10 160 or so when he started and he was up to 260 in 2-3 years and won the Junior National Championship.

One of the greatest guys I ever met and I am glad he is with the Tigers.

Rolle watch out for his bamboo stick, he will whack you with it if you start slacking.:hihi:

What that article does not tell you is that Coach Brady always thinks he knows more about conditioning than whomever the strength coach is. He consistantly does not support the S & C coach and gives his players days off from lifting against the advice of the S & C coach and then wonders why his guys are weaker, less powerful, and not in shape. He has reaped what he sewed on that for several years. Last year, the players stopped lifting all together because coach Brady thought the workout was making their legs tired in games. So, for the second half of the season, workouts were optional not mandatory. And guess what? The players got weaker, Shocking...

By the way the last two strength and conditioning coaches were protege's of coach Moffitt who obviously was a disciple of coach Hatch. The workouts were very similar to what coach Hatch is giving them now. As a matter of fact, most of coach Moffitt's staff works with coach Hatch on a regular basis. The workouts they are doing now in basketball are hardly different from what they were doing previously. The difference is that coach Brady is actually buying into the system and recognizing that he doesn't know what he thinks he knows.

Interesting. This is an aspect of the team's fortunes last year I didn't know about. I was a little curious reading the article though and wondering who WAS the strength coach last year. Clearly, not a lot has been done with Johnson and Rolle since their time here, and I don't think Johnson has gained much, if any, weight since being here two years. You'd think that both of these kids realize with a 6'11 frame, there's the NBA calling if you just look the part, and there's been very little improvement in that area. Johnson really would have the most to gain. He's already got a decent shot and is fairly mobile. At 225 he would at least not get shoved out of the box by little guys...

Honestly, I wonder if the "S&C" coach spent all of his time with Big Baby, since he was the poster boy. Tasmin looked to be in better shape (thinner and more in tune with the perimeter game), but clearly our inside guys were lacking...

I guess the bottomline is we'll see what happens when the fall rolles around.
