I think if you are using your grandfathers war record as campaign propaganda you should sure as hell get the facts right and that's a pretty big fact to miss. Not saying he's lair but definitely guilty of talking out of his ass. And how do explain Hilary's "I took sniper fire" comment? I took sniper fire at work today. Wait...I mean...uh...I had a donut in the break room. My bad. I always mix those two up.
Yes, he must be lair . . . Exaggeration. She actually said that she remembered "landing under sniper fire" when she'd only been told that there were snipers in the area.
more than that. she also said she remembered having to run from the tarmac and they had to change some ceremony. there is video of her on the tarmac listening to some girl read a poem (without shots being fired)
The bottom line is that what Obama said is scandalous, a fact to which I think we can all agree!!!! I'd say newsworthy on par with the saga of Britney Spears. Of course, going to war in Iraq under false pretenses and with poor planning is better than a'ight!
Mastermind, as I said, they ALL lie. I'm not blind to that and I've stated on more than one occasion that I really don't like JM. I like him a lot more than the other two choices. My point was when are we going to stop accepting it and just washing it away with that isn't what he meant. Was it a mistake? Who knows, but as one other poster said, if it were my uncle, grandfather what the hell ever I'd damn sure have it right. Especially if I were running for president. I don't think thats too much to ask. In fact, that would be (for me personally) one of my most treasured and valued family claims. I think I would know what the ef I was saying if I was going to talk about it in public, private, from the vaticant. I'd get it right. Thats all I'm saying.
I see your point Shane, but I honestly believe it was a simple mistake. And getting the camp name incorrect is pretty minor stuff. Comparing it to Billary's whooper about herself....well, it's just not in the same ball park. It's not like he exaggerated, or completely made something up. And to be fair to Hillary, it was her one shot as a woman that had not served in the military, to make herself appear as "battle tested", and she has paid dearly for it. The truth usually works best.
I got that, it's not the severity of the "mistake" more of the fact that it was made. I'm just thinking that someone running for president would know better. Maybe if he had went to yale he would know the difference between the red army and ours?
But I don't see you pointing out the fact that McCain lies. Flip flop my azz, he lies just like the rest, in my opinion, flip flopping to pander to the conservative vote is worse than making what even Bill O'Reily said is an honest mistake, which is what Obama did in this case. No defending Hillary, that was just an outright lie.
Which is why I don't like McCain as I've already stated, don't have enough time or space on the forum for all of his flip flopping. Just an all around terrible election. I never said he was George Washington. Just saying that Obama should have known what was going on before he popped his mouth off. I would never say my grandfather led the charge on Normandy if in fact he was in the battle of the bulge instead. I'm now done with this thread, someone hijack it please.
