We could have this discussion all night about what could have been done better. Geez we won, and to hear some of the talk, it's like we beat a pee wee team. I have heard we weren't prepared, well we obviously were prepared enough. We didn't play the right people, obviously we did. There were too many penalties, well the score says otherwise. I do somewhat agree with all these issues but how about the fact that auburn played very good and we still won. I also like when people say if we play like this next week, what? Will we lose? I think if we play like this we will beat alabama. It is not about how you win, it's about if you win.
I agree a win is a win...anyway, look at the yards LSU had(480ish) to what AU had(240ish). LSU would have won by more if it were not for the drop passes and turnovers...Stuff that needs to be corrected.....Oh yeah and Early Doucet being back was God sent.:helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :tigerhead
The point of everyone bitching is that the problems that are so apparent need to be corrected if we are even going to beat Bama, much less run the table, much less have a chance at an NC, much less win the NC. The criticisms are mostly very fair and should be respected by those that don't care for such criticisms of our beloved team. I have faith that things will get corrected, so that we're not facing a 4th and 8 at the opponent's 29 yard line with 1:27 left to play and a 4 point deficit vs Bama in 2 weeks.
I agree they need to be corrected, it's just that I do think we would beat Bama if we played the same way.JMO
I definitely don't agree. That will be a really hostile environment with so much more at stake and emotions running higher than high.
True, you never know with such an emotional game, but in my opinion AU is much better than Bama. And boy I sure hope I am right.
Getting a win against Auburn is great. Add this game to a long list of recent classic LSU v Auburn games. Our offense finally came alive, with Flynn regaining some confidence and Doucet making all the difference in the world. I think we are close to becoming the complete team we saw at the beginning of the season. We saw why Perrilloux isn't playing. There was also a significant reduction in penalties, which was big. Our corps of running backs is pretty strong, especially when our OL opens holes for them. I felt good for the most part about both pass and run protection against Auburn. Holliday is simply a difference maker; chasing down that Auburn player after Perrilloux lost the ball showed the guy's heart and blazing speed. Holliday has the true heart of a tiger. On the other hand, I'm not sure how we let the clock run like we did on that last play. Why did we have so much trouble with clock management all game? We've all noticed with the loss of one receiver how one dimensional our offense became. With the loss of one CB our passing defense was ripped to shreds. As unimpressed as I was with Flynn's clock management, I'm terrified of what Perrilloux's heaving of a pass down field upon receiving pressure means for our depth at QB. And despite getting the sense that with Doucet our offense can move the ball again, what has happened to our defense? We were unable to stop Auburn as they drove the length of the field to get the go ahead score. What does that mean? Also, how many times did we bobble a punt return? As a final note, LaFell is killing me, but I get the feeling that his confidence is very shaky right now. I'd like to think he's better than he's shown and I hope the coaches can build up his confidence again so he's not questioning himself every time the ball comes his way. We recruited this kid, we must think he can be a player. Far from a perfect game, though closer than we've been since Doucet left. I welcome the bye week, and then it's off to another huge game. PS - I don't like Miles' attitude with the sideline reporters. Attitude once or twice is understandable, but part of Miles' job is answering those questions and representing LSU. Lay off the women reporters coach, you're starting to look like a bully.
You guys crack me up. I'm as happy as a pig in sh!t and you are wringing your hands with worry over how our mistakes are going to cost us in the next game. Here's a word of wisdom from the ole' voice of reason. Don't fret over things you can't control. Enjoy the win and the continued quest for the NC. If you must worry, worry about your grades or your job or your family's happiness. The coaches get paid to worry about mistakes, so let them handle all that stress. If you really want to have fun, go on over to WEN and see how we'd feel if we had lost. :hihi:
