A lot of that had to do with conservative play calling in the first half, and just plain old coming out FLAT. I think those players were buying into the rivalry game, two weeks before LSU, LSU played this team the week before, blah blah blah. Trent had a break out game the second half, as did the rest of the team, so don't look too much into that. I will say it now... No team has been able to "stop" this man, and that running offense. Hats off to LSU if they can... It will be interesting to watch. Balance for our team is the key in this game... It is in every game... If we are one dimensional, we will more than likely lose. LSU is the only team we have played that is capable of doing that, so I am interested to see how it works out. Keep this in mind as well... A lot of these Alabama players were in the loss to LSU last season. They have a huge chip on their shoulders because of it, and they are going to look at those mistakes last season, and be ready, at Bryant Denny!
Well, I also used the pass defense statistical rankings. The same can be said for LSU... And WV put up 500 yards on LSU.
The last time I checked, teams don't use a punter to gain field position... I always thought it was the offense/defense. I am not saying that he won't be a factor at times, but LSU is gonna have to be in situations where he can be useful. If he is punting from the LSU 20, it's not going to matter much.
I will repost this... We are ranked 2nd in the nation in 3rd down defense, LSU 15th... We are ranked 8th in third down offense, LSU ranked 34th. This tells me that for the most part, we will control the game called field position, and your punter won't be that effective. If he is punting from his own 20, it really won't matter how good he is.
You are probably right about the OLine... That is a big homerish of me... You might be right about that... I know LSU is deep, but Bama is a bit deeper, and more physical. I agree, you have some serious play makers... I just think our defense is ready for it. Like I said, you guys should get 17 points on the board.
I really think you are putting too much stock in those rankings my man. If you guys were in the top 20 and we were in the bottom 20 for each of those categories then stats like this would be relevant. However, that is not the case.
Exactly why I said I am not guaranteeing that he will break away... The stats say that it will be an interesting matchup... You never know how those situations will go though... All it takes is one over confident guy missing for a play maker like Maze to take it all the way. I am sure the same can be said for your team.
