This is really just a summation of some excellent recruiting news, most of which is posted in the recruiting section. I just see that while hundreds look in the Tigers Den, a much lower number look in the recruiting section. Good Job Philter and AustinTxHorn :thumb: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perrilloux is still listed as a soft commitment to Texas but things are definitely looking dicey for the Longhorns according to Dauterive. "Ryan asked some good questions, the mom felt totally comfortable with him and hugged his neck before she left. They did some good tonight and Texas has some cause to worry." -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The news of Miles' hiring was a welcomed relief to Compton (Calif.) Community College offensive lineman Kevin Myers, one of LSU's 10 commitments. The 6-foot-6, 360-pound Myers expressed concern after Saban's departure and considered switching his commitment to either USC or Oregon. "I was sitting down when it popped on ESPN that coach Miles was the new coach at LSU," said Myers, who also made an official visit to Oklahoma State. "That meant I didn't have to make any hard decisions. I guess I was supposed to go to Louisiana and be a Tiger after all." -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Black, a 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive guard from Robert E. Lee High, committed to LSU and former coach Nick Saban before his senior season. He had also received recruiting interest from Oklahoma State and its head coach, Les Miles, who was chosen as Saban's successor Monday. "I love the guy," Black said of Miles. "I was down a little bit when Coach Saban left. But I am unbelievably happy now. I am still talking to Texas, but I am coming to LSU."
Well here's one D guy: Defensive end Al Jones of New Orleans-St. Augustine, said his commitment to LSU remained solid, but he intends to make official visits to Ole Miss (Jan. 14) and Miami, Fla. (Jan. 28). "That helped out even more," Jones said of Miles' appointment. "He was recruiting me at Oklahoma State and I really liked him. I was happy to hear that he got the job at LSU." http://www.2theadvocate.com/stories/010405/spo_ryan001.shtml
Of course these responses are only a few, but the prevailing thread seems to be that most who had met Miles liked him, but didn't want to play at OSU. Seems to back up the theory that it is just hard to recruit to Stillwater, yet Miles was able to have a measure of success there. This bodes well for us, I think.
Thanks for posting this, I hope this will give some of the nay-sayers a little something to think about. I for one am glad LSU hired Coach Les, I think he will be a great fit at LSU and will produce the type of teams we all hope for and want.
Recruiting has always seemed to be a real big positive for Miles. Lots of analysts have stated as much. It just shows that he definately had the eye for spotting talent, but the fascilities at OSU are no match for LSU's, which is why he lost out on a lot of those players in the past, and to LSU this year before becoming a Tiger.
This is very positive news. Thanks for posting this. This is very good news. It's pretty clear that Coach Les Miles is an excellent recruiter and LIKES to recruit.
