We've been bitching for years about wanting a competent offense. Here's a little perspective... Yesterday LSU was 10/15 on 3rd conversions. Currently No.1 in the SEC, and No.4 Nationally. There's the ability to move the chains and sustain drives we were all wishing for for Christmas. LSU now has an Offense that can move the ball. To date through the first 5 games we are watching the most prolific Offense in LSU Football history: 2013 Offense through 5 games 2370 yards, the 2007 team had 2201 yards and the 2003 team had 2051 yards. At last a good driving offense. Currently LSU is No.3 in the nation in pass completions of 20 yrds or more with 28, aTm #2 with 30, and Oregon St. #1 with 34. Ro put in perpsective we had only 44 all of last season. And Zack Metts 372 yrds yesterday was most by a LSU QB in SEC in a SEC game since Rohan Davey had 528 yrds at Bama in '01. Jarvis Landry is the first LSU player with 10 catches in a SEC game since Michael Claytons 12 vs. Bama in '03. Jarvis Landry is 3rd in the Nation in recieving TDs with 7 and 8th in recieving yards. Hell in Guilbeau who usually has nothing good to say about us tweeted: Even in loss, the narional media are taking notice of the new LSU offense. And we're gaining narional respect for it. The roof is not collapsing. Be glad things are movong in the right direction.
Agree everyone is gushing about the offense but the problem is EVERY team we have to play is gushing at the "chance" to play our defense. Just line 3 Wr's up on same side and two of them will be open because of very poor secondary play.
Yeah but we wanted to keep our defense too. I don't think we surprised anyone yesterday with out offense- they know we're here.
Losing 8 studs on one side of the ball is always going to be tough to get through with out a few bumps. The bright side is LSU never gave up and kept the game within respectable reach. The defense will slowly get better and things will right itself.
Johnny Football had 464 yards vs Bama. So Mett isn't leading in that stat. However he has looked great.
