WOW, someone in the media said that LSU is actually close to Southern Cal's talent level!?!?! In all honesty, you have to see his point. USC is incredibly loaded and of course I agree that LSU is one of very few teams just as loaded. I'd say it's a good analysis, except GRRRR I hate it when they say, "Louisiana State". It makes me think of a little bitty state school in a farm field - WE ARE A UNIVERSITY, DAMNIT!!
Actually, I like it when they say Louisiana State. I mean, 95% of the time media types say LSU, so every once in a while it's nice to see a positive piece like this one point out the fact that we are talking about Louisiana here, after all. I also like it when the nickname is put in parenthesis (LSU "Fighting Tigers"). Don't know why, but I do. LSU!
LSU's Sports Information Department, at the behest of the University itself, as well as the Chancellor and President, request to the media that Louisiana State University be referred to as LSU... Don't really know why other than it seems to roll off the tongue better...I also like to be differentiated from schools like Florida State, Ohio State, Boise State, etc... But, I do know that any time we had meetings with media or play-by-play/on-air personality types, they were asked to use LSU instead of Louisiana State University...
