Lisa and I went to visit mom and dad yesterday afternoon. Emma and my nephew Tanner joined us. We brought a few fishing poles and Emma, Tanner, my niece Sophia and I said hello to mom and dad's pond. Emma is turning into quite the fisherman. She caught 10 bass. Sophia caught her first fish ever (my brother doesn't fish), and Tanner caught a bass all by himself. As his dad used to say, "If he didn't have ears, that smile would wrap around his head". Ron was my best friend and the reason I cook at the ALS walk in BR and this year in NOLA also. Ron loved to fish and we spent many many days on the water together. Shortly before he died, he asked me to promise that I would teach his son to fish. Yesterday was just another part of keeping that promise. RIP my friend. Tanner and his fish Sophia's first fish! Emma with 2 of her 10. That girl is getting good! Yesterday was one of the most enjoyable days I have had in a very long time
We had a great time, and active fish only added to it. I couldn't have asked for more turned on fish. Literally every cast for the first 8 or 9 casts got strikes. No one has fished there for most of the winter and I imagine with the water warming up a little bit those fish are hungry. We had a great time.
