First of all, congratulations on an excellent run this season. I'm an OSU Buckeye fan who made the trip out to Tempe for last year's Fiesta Bowl and just wanted to pass on a few tidbits from my game-day experience as a courtesy.

First of all - get there early. As early as you can. The game's on a Sunday this year and I'm assuming that most LSU fans will be driving down the day of the game or the night before. Soak it all in - you're never sure when you'll get back.

Plan on getting to the stadium at least an hour before kickoff. My dad and I were in the area of the stadium about 2 hours before kickoff last year, sat around for a while and then decided to head into the stadium about 90 minutes before kickoff. Boy am I glad that we did. There was a frenzy of people buying anything and everything. All of the game programs were sold out about an hour before kickoff and souveniers weren't too far behind. I saw people buying 10-15 programs at a time. Saw a ton of them on sale on eBay afterwards and $10 programs were selling for $40-50...ridiculous.

Have fun...but not too much fun. How would you feel if you were too drunk to remember when your team won the NC? I can honestly say that I really didn't see too many drunk people in the stands at the Fiesta Bowl game last year...everyone wanted to remember the experience.

If you manage to win the game...stick around afterwards and take it all in. We hung out in the stadium last year until they kicked us out just gaining as many memories as we could.

    Good luck!

On a side-note, I am also a Miami University grad - from what I've heard, LSU fans treated our team very well a couple years ago...I appreciate it.

Congratulations to you as well on the Red Hawks' success this year. That Roethlisberger is the real deal...as a Saints fan, I would love to see us get him, even over fan favorite Eli Manning.
I think Roethlisberger is going to end up being the better pro of
    the two.

So, are you going to see the Red Hawks in the GMAC Bowl? Or are you Tempe-bound once again?

Screw Eli Manning and the rest of the Mannings. Archie let the whole world know how he feels about the Saints and Louisiana when he announced on the air (WWL870, New Orleans) that he would never let any of his sons play for the Saints.

not to be an ass or anything

but LSU fans really don't need any advice as to when to arrive at games. We start tailgating before most people wake up.

And the traveling fan base is nothing like you can imagine. When i say we roll thousands strong, its not a lie. Ask any fans of schools we've travelled to.
AND THIS TIME WE ONLY HAFTA GO AN HOUR AWAY.

LSU fans arrive in away game cities long before the work week is even over. And stay way after the game is over. Believe me, after the Tigers win, the fans will stick around, unless they are nuts.

I was just trying to be helpful...

Oh, I'm pretty sure that I can imagine what a travelling fan base is like...its not like tOSU doesn't travel well. We had at least 100,000 people in Tempe last year and overtook Indiana's stadium this year and usually take at least 20-30k fans with us to road games. I can only imagine if tOSU was playing in a NC game in say, Cincinnati (not that its possible) - it would be absolutely crazy.

Anyway, in a response to another poster - I won't be making any bowl trips this year. Last year's ticket prices for the Fiesta Bowl wiped me out, and having been there last year, I can't justify another trip (although it was awesome!). I would consider going to the GMAC Bowl, but its next Thursday and I can't get off of work. Will be watching both from home.

As I will probably be doing myself, re: the Sugar Bowl. Ticket prices are too outrageous, and as I told another poster, my Laz-E
Boy is still the best seat in the house.

Those program comments are spot on ... buy several and early
With a January game at the Dome ... it'll probably be freezing and windy outside ... and I wear a leather Jacket for smuggling shit
I bring one of those Kodak instant cameras to document attendance and degree of debauchery and especially shoot the scoreboard posting the final score and your buds making complete freaking fools of themselves. I smuggle a dozen or so small shot bottles and tape them to my Wolverine boots and smuggle in that flask too. I never got caught yet!
