Officiating wasn’t fair to either team. These guys put way too much effort into this for WAC level officiating. The last big call, I am struggling with was it catchable, or if that would make a difference; but I don’t struggle with the missed PI against AU in the endzone and a big missed call on a play that CT may have made. Unforgivable that the refs couldn’t do a better job.

LSU should have attacked AU’s secondary more, especially after Wilhite went out. Some of you complain about your line, I saw a line that did a better job pass blocking our ends than I have seen anyone do of late. We are still too young at safety to have a clue about what is going on. We were constantly scrambling back to the ball. You have too many good receivers not to blow folk up.

Auburn couldn’t do anything on O until Brandon forced the issue in the air. Auburn would have looked much better, but your DLine played extremely well against our guards. Too much pressure up the middle and Auburn was out of rhythm most of the day.

Auburn didn’t move the ball well, but they did sting enough plays together to make them count. I did not think one score would have been enough. Going into the game I was counting on turnovers to give Auburn a short field 2 or 3 times and LSU to make a couple of spectacular plays for TD’s.

You have a scary good collection of players, let them attack and the running game will come along. Your D should only be allowed to play on Sunday. They keep playing that way and you will still be in a BCS game.

Good post, well reasoned, I gotta spread some rep around before giving to you again.

It WAS A GREAT GAME, IMO. My team didn't win, but it was close and we had a shot to the last play. Befitting two great teams.

    Congratulations!

"Catchable" is always subject to a lot of personal interpretation. I would contend that on the PI call that negated the LSU interception at the beginning of the 4th, that was not catchable, because Daniels had a better angle to the ball. Also, if our guy doesn't commit the interference, but just maintains his position, Taylor has no chance to get to the ball without running the CB over. The "catchable" interpretation should always be limited to where the QB put the ball, not on how the flight path was interrupted. On the controversial play, it would have been a tough catch, but Doucet could have got to the ball without the tip, because he had a step on the defender before getting tackled.

My biggest bone of contention with LSU's coaching. I thought Pellini backing off the blitz package gave Auburn a chance to get its offense in sync. When he was bringing LB's in the first half, Cox could not set up and rarely made a good throw.

Very good point. Just compare the number of sacks in the second half to the number in the first.
But then again, those guys were on the field WAY too much so it may have been due to the fatigue factor.
But If we had seen the offense open up in the first 3 quarters like they did on the last drive, would have been a different ballgame. I thought the offense seemed to be playing "nervous", as evidenced by the dropped balls and such. We really just failed to play to our potential.
