I sure hope Miles and his staff have copies of that quote to hand out during the week of the Auburn game. Tubs must've gone to Little Petey Carroll's School of Virtual Math, where anyone can be a champion, all you have to do is say so (because no one in the media will ever check his/her facts).:dis:
Try telling your own fan base that your 10,303 National Title are just mythical. Mass suicides would occur
Its not a double standard. Collectively, we believe that the BCS champion is the national champion because everyone agreed to the system and pursued the goal of playing in the BCS championship game for THE national championship, flawed as the system may be. We won it in 2003, USC won it last year. When Miami blew out that pathetic Nebraska team in 2001 (yes, the one that didnt even win their division), it meant absolutely nothing, but Miami was still the national champion because they won in the system that was in place. It sucks for Auburn, and I sincerely believe that you guys got screwed. That doesnt change anything, though. Now, this is its own issue entirely, and has nothing to do with SEC division co-championships... The difference here is that everytime we turn around, we hear Tubberville, and Aurburn fans, as a result, saying things like "we have one 4 of the last 5". Last year, it was "3 of the last 4". You never heard Saban, or any LSU fans for that matter, brag about our 2002 western division championship. We hold ourselves to the same standard. That 2002 western division championship means absolutely nothing because we didnt want to win a banner, we wanted to go to Atlanta. I would bet that most SEC fans goal is for their team to go to Atlanta to play for the SEC championship. I dont give a crap about division titles, unless they send you to Atlanta, and it irritates me that other people brag about them.
This response deserves accolades. Well thought out, consise, clean, clear thought. When I first started posting here I told myself that I would recuse myself from contentious conversations involving AU. In respect of this LSU forum, I will try to be more faithful to my declaration.
