Well one day my roommate and I were doing something in front of our house and he came over to talk to us about gutting his house. The problem is not that the news media printed the news. That's their job. The problem is the government is NOT doing their job.
Not surprised here, this is the way Democracies work. They don't correct things until it becomes a national crisis if then. I have seen this many times. The news media have revealed everything from how to cheat, steal, rob to giving intel to the enemy during a time of war.
