This will be a very intresting team to watch. I have no Idea what this team will do. I am ready for the season to start. It will help put BB behind
we will be the most conditioned team in the SEC and i dont think we'll have to worry about our team making stupid mistakes...mainieri is a stickler for that
Complete 180 from what we had in Smoke. This team not only appears to be athletic and VERY well coached, they also seem to want to play for LSU and CPM. It seems that some LSU players the last couple of years (without naming names) really didn't care that they played for LSU. Rooney is also a pitching coach that we've needed for YEARS (no offense, Dan Can.) Furbush is going to be something else--a crafty southpaw that can get in to the 90s. I find it encouraging that the coaching staff said that Louis Coleman was pitching off of pure talent prior to this year and that they were working on mechanics with him. Hell, Coleman was a decent pitcher last season and hearing the coaching staff say that he could be better is very encouraging to say the least. I don't think we'll have much power as far as HRs go, but this will be a very, very difficult team to defeat. I don't know if any of you non-baseball followers have been reading the Advocate's series on the team's positions, but I like how CPM relates to the media. He gives a lot of information on why a player may or may not be starting, what he hopes to achieve at LSU and his overall demeanor regarding his philosophy--all departments in which Smoke was severely lacking. Offensively, it may be a bit frustrating watching this team, IMO. However, our pitching and defense should be phenomenal. It may take awhile for CPM to recruit the types of players needed to play his style of ball, but at the same time, I don’t think that any coach would be really disappointed with the players that LSU has. I also like CPM’s confidence in his team. He repeats over and over that people are going to be surprised by LSU (which is favored to finish fourth in the west this season.) When was the last time LSU Baseball was overlooked this badly? CPM seems to have embraced the underdog role at ND—just think what he can achieve at LSU in the same situation?
