With some of these defensive studs getting playing time next season... I think that eara will be even better which gives me hope that we'll win a few of those "Iffy" games because of a stingy defense... left up to offense alone (if GC is there) ain't gonna cut it.
He is getting paid what he gets paid to make those tough and hard calls. If something is broke in his house then it falls on him to fix it. I think what you are starting to see is the people that do remember those very dark years and are starting to see similarities and are afraid that we might me following the Pied Hatter back into despair.
I find that ingenuine. Lafell came to LSU as a medium/low ranked recruit, and is leaving as a probable 1st round NFL draft pick & #4 as LSU's All-Time WR list. Ciron Black also a medium/low ranked recruit, is leaving LSU with the Jacobs Award as the SEC's Finest Blocker in 2009, grading out at over 85% percent in all 12 of LSU’s regular season games.
I have to admit after todays game that I wonder if CLM's will follow in Gerry Dinardo's footsteps and keep his offensive coordinator until the bitter end the way Dinardo did with Tepper. I'm hopeful that this won't happen, that lightning doesn't strike in the same place twice. Its just a thought that entered my brain, means nothing really!:insane: I hope!
I would be willing to bet not that long. I would guess if he keeps GC and does the same as this year or worse, he might be gone. if he throws GC under the bus like he needs to I think they will give him some slack. I dont think it is about how many wins a year. It would be very naive for anyone here ( like I see many doing ) to think there isnt more criteria on which they base a coach's ability. that W-L record doesnt do much, football is about what have you done for me latley? I see many folks saying how its so much better than when hallman was here. Oddly enough that is precisely why they may let someone ( whoever is coach ) go b4 it goes in the cellar. Les would likely get an extra year due to his personality. he is a rare likeable guy. A saban type wouldnt, but Saban doesnt have a problem producing either. He is an ass but he wins. a 9 win ugly season gets you some calls from the front office, because even though 9 wins is great, it doesnt get you in a BCS bowl in many cases and it doesnt sell tickets when you win ugly. Everyone says its about the wins and in a way it is, but in CFB today it's about SELLING tickets and merchandise, and LSU SELLS big. if anyone upsets that apple cart or throws a wrench in that machine.... trust me heads will roll. We won a trophy in 07 with two losses but you have to admit that was rare and probably wont be the norm. a 9 win season that gets you in the SEC CG and maybe lose but play great all year..... sells tickets.... and that is the bottom line. CFB is a big money machine.
The worse thing about this team and I am stealing this from Big Wee....we are not building team leaders. Because Miles not wanting to play underclassmen he is allowing this team to be leaderless. A prime example Patrick Peterson started playing as an underclassman because HE HAD TO and look is what is happening with him. He is becoming that kind of a player. This coaching staff is not building towards anything...its almost as if the tires are stuck in the mud and miles is just spinning the tires.
The ONLY reason Black is winning that award is because of his career stats at LSU he had a CRAPPY season this year! Lafell while has improved does still have a bad habit of dropping balls. But you are talking over their entire career. The team that played today looked NO DIFFERENT then the team that opened the season at Washington...there has been no progression through out this year! And think back to last year it wasnt until Lee got hurt that we saw a change there...the coaches were content on staying with Lee and more then likely screwed up this kids head more then if they would have sat him down earlier in the season to correct his mistakes.
I just read through this entire thread, comments, responses, opinions, and attacks. John, you have to understand passionate fans. As a passionate fan you don't want to see what is happening at LSU right now. The comments directed at the coaching staff are comments that are warranted based on performance. What do you want fans to direct their grievances at? Players? I see your comments made to Crip unwarranted and classless. The guy just wants to see the team he LOVES turn in the right direction. Has he claimed t owant to root for another team? No So stop telling him to "find another team to cheer for"
Actually, Black still grades out well overall, it's just that when he gets beat at left tackle, it's often ugly for a quarterback without good pocket presence and he gets blindsided. I can't help but think that it's our guards and center who are the weak spots on the line. Black dominated with Herman next to him last year.
