Re: W has lowered this country to the level of the OK. I am prepared to be very open-minded and will listen without comment. Please state your case for not forcibly disarming Saddam. Convince me and other "right-necks" that Saddam is harmless and/or has not been lying to the world for the past 12 years. And...here's the hard part: Try and do it without being a smart ass.
C'mon SF.... Non smart-ass....let's not ask too much.... My basic problem with this war is we have not justified it to our country, our allies or the world. Saddam is no threat to the US. He has less territory than he did 12 years ago, Hell basically he's the mayor of Bagdad and that's it. There has been no connection between Sadam and 9-11 and no proof of weapons. If W had such proof then tell us. And then I would support him... This administration has lost a PR battle with a despot. Rather than prove our case against him we allienate our half country and the rest of the world. We are not acting as the leader of the free world but as a third rate bully. Again I say show me the proof. I supported W's Afganistan efforts. And yes you are correct, these efforts are starting to prove fruitful. But this war has no cause or no justification. Most Americans know it, the free world knows it and through the bungling of this administration, the ignoring of our allies and the UN and the inability of this administration to project itself as nothing other than a cowboy isolationist bully, we will lose 50 years of friendship and allies, and f&*K up our economy.... No we don't need the world, our allies or the UN to fight this war, but we do need the American people and the truth...
Biggles does it not scare you to think that if saddam has chem weapons that he might give them to terrorist org?Do you really think he would use those chem weapons against Israel? I mean he used them against his own people what makes you think he won't use them on someone else? This war isn't all about USA. Like it our not we have to protect our allies. Thats our role in the world and Saddam is a threat to surrounding countries. besides all bush is doing is enforcing the 45 day ultimatum given to saddum in the early 90's. The fucking french don't want to goto war because they support saddam. Personally I would feel a lot safer if saddam was out of power, many americans feel the same way and that is justification for this war in my book. Anything that we can do to make our country safer Im all for.
Re: C'mon SF.... The "X-Factor" here is that we are now Post 9/11/2001. Your arguments would have held water on 9/10/2001. Bush realizes that we cannot deal diplomatically with murderous dictators. Diplomacy has been ineffective for 12 years. Saddam agreed to disarm 12 years ago and hasn't. It went on for 12 years because nobody ever thought US haters would fly 757s into our buildings. These were not military actions. These were crimes perpetrated upon innocent civilians. Bush cannot and will not take the chance that it won't happen again. He sees a real and present danger to Americans and he is charged with protecting American citizens. He is doing his duty and doing it quite magnificently. Hell, If Gore was President and was trying to deal with Saddam as the French and others would have it, I would be screaming bloody murder from rooftops. You don't see it Biggles but you are Damn lucky the Democrats lost the last election.
One more thing. Sen Evan Bayh, A Democrat, on O'Reilly last night said he would bet "HIS LIFE" that Iraq has hidden mass quantities of chemical weapons and biological agents as well as nuclear components. And, Bayh is a member of the Senate Intelligence committee. You may not have seen the proof, Biggles, but those with a need to know have.
I totally agree with Saban fan. The experts in our government feel that this war is necessary, and I trust them. No, I am not a sheep, just a girl with common sense. I have noticed that more and more democrats are supporting the war now that its definite. Including Lieberman. Biggles, I hope you and all of the other anti-war croud will now be supportive rather than go on about why we should not go to war. All of the liberal protesters did not phase our administration and I am proud of our president for having the backbone to stand up to Hussein and all of his supporters. Now that the decision has been made lets support our troops. God Bless America!
