NICK SABAN 4-0 AGAINST DELUSIONAL_ABAMA. HELLO MCFLY.

wow, nick saban tries an onside kick to start the second half???? unreal.

now on to my 4 game changing plays.

    1. Pass from Pennington to DJ hall in back of endzone right before end of first half hurt them. terrible pass coulda put the game 2 scores away for LSU. huge play which will be forgotten by most LSU fans.

    2. 2nd and 9 first drive of 2nd half when TE (johnston I think) was wide open and if complete he breaks corner past corey webster they are up 2 scores. Pass was too high and Bama ends up punting. huge non-play.

    3. some guy with a #84 named Marcus Spears made a slightly big play punching the ball out of spencer pennington's hand and someone with a number of #46 named Cameron Vaughn scoops and scores. a slightly big play. LSU goes up 13-10 to end the 3rd qtr.

    4. (previously) #13 CW pushes off in end zone and gets the INT. huge play. in slow motion its obvious he barely pushes the guy but 9 of 10 times the offensive guy gets the call. fortunate. LSU wins.

spears--playing his ass off since game 3.

kyle williams--always plays his ass off.

    wroten--unblockable as of late.

laron landry--what more can this guy do? he does it all.

offensively---wtf is jamarcus russell doing? he has regressed since game one. very clear marcus randall gives LSU its best chance to win by a long margin. JR reminds me of Aaron Brooks more and more. I sure hope he can improve because he looks brutal in every facet. thank god we have marcus randall.

addai-- nothing needs to be said except true tiger. love this guy.

9 straight home wins fellas. been awhile we could say that. death valley is alive and well.

oh and let me not forget Freddie Roach for Bama who may have been the best player on the field. saved a td run of addai, a few one on one coverage plays for losses which would have been scores and not to mention a couple sacks. complete stud. hats off to him. wish we had him.

    (17) LSU 26, Alabama 10

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Just as predicted, two of the top-rated defenses came up big Saturday night. LSU's defense just came up a little bit bigger.

LSU defensive end Marcus Spears and linebacker Cameron Vaughn combined for the go-ahead touchdown to help the No. 17 Tigers beat Alabama 26-10.

With the Tigers trailing 10-6 in the third quarter, Spears hit Alabama quarterback Spencer Pennington on the Crimson Tide 8, forcing a fumble. Vaughn picked up the ball and scampered in for the TD to give LSU its first lead.

``I saw him hanging out there and I thought he was going to throw it before I got to him,'' Spears said. ``He still had it hanging, so I just swiped for it and was fortunate to get it on the ground. Then I looked, thinking it was going out of bounds and there goes Cameron.''

The game lived up to its billing as a defensive battle. Alabama has the No. 1 defense in the nation and LSU is No. 4.

LSU, averaging 401 yards a game, was held to 283 yards. The Tigers gained 192 yards rushing and Marcus Randall and JaMarcus Russell combined to complete six of 14 passes for 91 yards.

Alabama, which came in averaging 353.8 yards, gained 196 yards, including 82 yards rushing. Pennington was 7-of-15 for 114 yards and one interception.

``We made some mistakes on defense that gave them some plays in the first half,'' LSU coach Nick Saban said. ``But what a great second half, coming back out great defensively and scoring a touchdown defensively.''

Alabama's Kenneth Darby, coming off a 200-yard performance a week ago at Mississippi State and averaging 106.3 yards, gained 109 yards. It was only the second time this season that LSU allowed a 100-yard rusher.

``That's basically their game,'' defensive tackle Kyle Williams said. ``They like to pound the ball at you and make you stop them. I think we did well enough and kept them out of the end zone. Darby made some yards, but it ultimately turned out our way.''

It was the ninth straight home victory for LSU (7-2, 4-2 Southeastern Conference) and a rare victory over the Crimson Tide (6-4, 3-4) in Tiger Stadium.

Since LSU's 20-15 victory over the Tide in 1969, Alabama is 15-2-1 in Baton Rouge. Since Saban's arrival in Baton Rouge, LSU has won four out of four games against Alabama, including two in Tuscaloosa.

After getting no where running the ball on its first possession, Alabama went to the air. Pennington hit Matt Caddell with a 48-yard pass to take the Tide to the LSU 5. Three plays later Darby ran the final yard to put Alabama up 7-0.

LSU drove to the 3 to start the second quarter, but Russell was sacked for a 12-yard loss and the Tigers settled for a 32-yard field goal to make it 7-3.

Alabama pulled ahead with a 26-yard field goal that made it 10-3. The Tigers kept pace with a 28-yard field goal to pull to 10-6 at halftime.

``When you go into a game like that, and you get a lead at halftime, you talk about finishing and 30 minutes to go,'' Alabama coach Mike Shula said.

``You come out and have two great starting drives in the third quarter and you come up with no points. Then you get a turnover and you get backed up; the worst things that could possibly happen, happened to us there. We lost momentum, we lost the lead and there was a struggle from that point on.''

Pennington said: ``We always talk about coming out fast in the second half. We really didn't do that. But if you play a team like they are, it's not going to turn out the way we wanted it to.''

After the third quarter heroics by Spears and Vaughn, LSU's offense got on track in the fourth quarter. The Tigers put together a four-play, 63-yard drive that ended with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Russell to Joseph Addai to make it 20-10.

The Tigers missed a 39-yard field goal and Addai closed out the scoring with a 47-yard touchdown run.

``Everybody asked us what have you got to play for,'' Saban said. ``You play for your pride. It means something. You beat Alabama, it means something.''

Marcus Spears 10 tackles 1.5 sacks 1 FF

Joseph Addai--first official 100 yard game depending on scorekeeper. 99 or 100?

Tirk I agree with your points except for Saban being 4-4 vs the Tide as he is 4-1 since Bama blew us out in 2002.

Spears is playing like a man possessed. Wroten gets better each game. Williams continues his fine play.

The O-line also got much better after starting off bad. By the end of the game they were looking pretty good.

Both QB's looked bad IMO, missing a lot of open receivers.

I agree that JR seemed to have played worse the first half than in his first game of the year. However, I don't know what fans see in Randall's play that encourages you. He appears just as shaky and confused as he did in 2002. He still has no touch and is about as acurate with his passes as our FG Kickers on extra points. Every attempt is an adventure. I would love to see the recruiters evaluation notes on Randall when he was a senior in HS.l

    Am I missing the sarcasm?

    Russell - 5 of 10 - 92 passing yards 1 TD

    Randall - 1 of 4 - Minus -1 passing yard

    Tirk,

I hate to say it but Randall is horrible compared to Russell. It is about time Saban played Russell more than Randall. Bama had the number one pass defense coming into the game. So I didn't expect a lot from both QBs but Randall is to damn easy to flush out of the pocket. He barely gets any pressure and he is running. Bama's Defense was too fast for Randall to really gain any yards. Our Defense has been carrying us but we got just enough offense to put this game away. Russell is the future and Randall has only 3 more games with LSU. Keep playing Russell.

Joseph Addai was a huge factor in our winning this football game. Like Michael Clayton, he is a football player !

Russell has no touch.. he throws the ball as hard as he can on every pass.. and usually ends up putting it in the dirt.. he also doesnt know how to check off of plays.. there were several where he shoudl have checked off because of a run blitz but he didnt..

You guys need to let this QB thing go ... it is what it is, and it's not going to change the remainder of the year. We'll have to win with a conservative offense and solid defense!

    From Nick Saban...

"The one thing that nobody's ever said about this team that I'm going to say," Saban said, "is we do a lot of things wrong, we're not always pretty, we can complain about how much we throw the ball and how many we complete, but the one thing we do is we've come back four times and won. You've got to say something about that.

"A lot of teams would melt down in those situations, and I'm really proud of the way our players believe in themselves, trust in each other to be able to come back in the game and win a game like we did today against a good football team."

Webster just didn't "barely" push in the endzone. It was pretty blatant. Funny how things are seen differently when you really don't wanna see it.

If you were watching on TV, did they show the Bama fans showering the field with their drinks after that play?

Man, I thought only LSU fans did such a thing!
