I think another thing to consider when you recall our "griping" last year was the fact that we beat ya'll (Auburn) head to head last year and then ya'll still wanted to say ya'll were the best team in the SEC. That's what we had the problem with. I think this year what we were kinda saying was totally different cause we had just gotten through taking care of the west representative (on the road for that matter who ya'll got waxed by at home) who is now playing and representing the west. So to compare last season to this one in those similar situations is not quite the same scenario at all. You hit the nail on the head about the bowl situation can't refute that really.:helmet:
OK... if we had at least ONE call go our way in the Auburn game, we wouldn't be discussing this. However, because y'alls refs seem to cheat your way into a win, we are. Don't try to burst our bubble.
I have to agree with this to a certain degree. Taking the opportunity to "remind" us at this particular point in the season comes off more like sour grapes and lecturing more than anything else. Besides, we aren't actually assured of anything yet. And while it is true that Auburn won head-to-head 7-3 in an extremely poorly officiated game against LSU, they did get spanked by Arky on their own turf, and we just finished off Arky on their home turf at the end of the season when they were ranked #5. So what does all this mean? I don't know, and I don't care. It is what it is. If Auburn has a gripe, take it up with the various polls, not with us.
Perhaps we can conclude that Auburn might have "BCS Envy." LSU went to the CG; Auburn didn't. We're both 10-2, but we're headed (hopefully) to the Rose Bowl; they aren't. Freud would have fun with this.
I understand the system is far from perfect. But were you complaining last season when it worked out for you. Do you honestly think you deserve the Rose Bowl?
Probably so. I am surprised we haven't heard from Auburn fan sooner. I can only imagine what it is like in AL. They are probably crying about all sorts of things, but that sound you hear outside of Alabama regarding Auburn is the sound of silence. No one cares. Auburn is not in the hunt for a BCS game and everyone knows it, even Auburn fan. The only way they can release this frustration is through blogs, "live chats," and fan message boards. I understand, I guess, but i don't think anyone wants to be bogged down with this stuff right now right here. :dis:
Between Bama and Auburn "logic" of how the world should be, Freud could have spent his entire life in the state. "Have you noticed that an angry man Can only get so far Until he reconciles the way he thinks things ought to be With the way things are" (Don Henley "My Thanksgiving")
Imagine how the Arky and gator fans feel about our potential Rose Bowl bid and no one is really hyped up on the SEC Championship game between them because it looks like we are considered the best team in the SEC now. All I know is that I have had a great week and its even better to think about the gripes of our fellow SEC teams.
i think it was fair last year. BCS had auburn and GA ahead of LSU after our loss to GA and we go to a lesser bowl than either. However bama was ranked behind us so they in fact should not have gone to a better bowl. obviously there is a gripe here but outside of BCS bowls it is less of a system of who is better and more a system of who the bowl "thinks" will make a better game/revenue. this year the BCS has us ranked right behind FL as the 2nd SEC team. possibly the #1 sec team if FL loses. therefor we get to play in a bowl game reflective of our ranking. in the sec the CG is almost a bonus chance to lose since most games are very close. thats not the case in other conf. example. OK destroys everybody all year then loses in big12 CG and yet only drops from #1 to #2. SEC teams pay far worse a price.
Won the head to head? More like was awarded it... if anyone wants to flame me for taking that position, I'll take it. That said, such is the cost of having refs with Blue and Orange stripes.
