If you want to squash this, go find Red's posts from 2006. I could be wrong, but I don't think he had a problem with Russell. It just so happens that most running QBs are black, and vice-versa. I can see where it could be misconstrued that way, if someone were looking for it.
Being a member here since 2003, I've never seen Red ever make a racist remark of any kind. I have, however, seen many, many posters have a problem with black quarterbacks. I don't understand that line of thinking in the least.
I'll tell you this...I'd love to have (college versions) Michael Vick, Pat White, Dennis Dixon, Cam Newton*, RGIII, or Vince Young on my team. *He was a smug bastard, but he was a helluva player.
Tiger fans would also have been happy to have JaMarcus Russell, Rohan Davey, or even Herb Tyler the past few years.
No, YOU go find Red's posts from anytime and try to make a point if you can. Otherwise, best to STFU about what you imagine I am thinking. I speak pretty damn plainly around here.
Don't not call Red a racist. Apparently even not calling him racist is a bad thing. Yipes!! Just joking remember Matt Flynn and Matt Mauck were both pretty good runners too. Hell Mauck beat Tennessee in 01 largely on his ability to scramble. Anyway, to me Jennings is the best all around QB we have. Not only is he a phenomonal athlete he is humble and is an extremely hard worker. All he talks about is working. I'm still for 8 at this point, but we need to see some of Jennings this season.
Jennings reminds me a lot of Teddy Bridgewater, who will unquestionably be the best QB in the nation this year (I think he was last year, too).
LSU hasn't exactly excelled in recent years in getting backup QBs meaningful snaps, so let's hope that changes also.
