OK, so this year's home schedule blows... but check out the POSSIBLE home slate for 2005: Oklahoma Arizona St. N. Texas (perennial Sun Belt Conf Champ) Florida Tennessee Auburn Arkansas WOW!! now that's finally worth the price of admission!
or exciting days because those damn nazis at cbs or abc will want ou florida arky and possibly tennesee which unless abc starts us late will all be day games, i wish the game of the week could be played at night, i mean c mon lsu and ou game of the week 2 top 3 teams re match in death valley at night with new seats, no instead we are gonna hafta sit our ass in the heat and no tailgate time unless u tailgate all week
In 2005: possibly THE toughest schedule in the nation (if Arizona comes around)... a young talented qb WITH experience... a brand NEW west upper deck. It should be a great year.
I think that ESPN might have a strong interest in the LSU/OU game. Since it is OOC, the networks would begin to battle for it. The major networks don't like night games, they interfere with 60 Minutes, Law and Order and things much less interesting than a major college game.
We won't have OU in 2005 It looks like OU will be down the road, maybe in years with 12 games or something. This was in the advocate this A.M.: Sucks for next year and hopefully Radakovich will get a good team but now we are at risk of having a terrible team this year and next in Ark St and whoever we get next year. Wish we were still playing Houston myself.
It depends upon how early in the season the game is played. I would think after broadcasting that 23-0 USC-Auburn yawner to open the season in prime time last year, a rematch of this year's NC game might look pretty good to ABC in 2005.
Gman, I think we were probably writing the 2 posts above at the same time so I'm sure you didn't see that we won't be playing them next year. But you know the networks would be salivating over that one, especailly in prime time at Tiger Stadium. It's a shame it won't happen.
I agree CajDav...I wish it were still Houston too. At first, it seemed like an Oklahoma for Houston swap. Now it's painfully obvious that the announcement was made only to soften the blow that we will be playing a weaker team this year. As I stated in an earlier post, I would bet any amount of money that the series will be pushed back to years where there are 12 games. (of course, soon every year will probably be 12 games) Like I also said before, I don't want to have to stay up into the wee hours pulling for Boise State. If we had ended up on the short end of the .03 BCS points, everybody would be up in arms about playing Ark St. I'm not saying we have to play top 5 every year, but at least come to a happy medium. Again, it all comes back to the simple fact that we refuse to do a home and home other than 12 game years.
