Sue's fishing for some big time recruits for 2004. Here's a look at LSU's needs and wants.

    Graduating seniors:
    *5'3" Temeka Johnson
    2002 Honorable Mention All-American 2002 SEC All-Tournament Team
    2002 Second-Team All-Louisiana
    2003 SEC Tournament MVP
    2003 Honorable Mention All-American (AP)
    2003 First-team All-Louisiana
    2003 third-team All-SEC (AP)
    2003 FIU/Herald Classic MVP

    *5'9" Doneeka Hodges
    2002 Second-Team All-SEC (Coaches)
    2002 Second-Team All-Louisiana
    2002 womenscollegehoops.com MVP
    2003 Third-team All-Louisiana

    Returning:
    *6'5" Sr. post Crystal White
    6'3" Sr. post Tillie Willis
    6'1" Sr. post Florence Williams
    *6'1" Jr. wing/post Seimone Augustus
    5'10" Jr. wing Scholanda Hoston
    6'4" Jr. post Treynell Clavelle
    *6'1" Jr. post Wendolyn Jones
    5'11" So. wing Khalilah Mitchell
    5'9" So. wing Marian Whitfield
    5'6" So. wing Amber Long
    6'1" So. post Hanna Beirnacka

    * indicate starters for 03-04 although Jones sustained torn ACL over the summer and will miss preseason.

    Potentials:

Morenike Atunrase, 5'10 SF, Shreveport, LA.
    15 ppg, 6 rpg.
Quianna Chaney, 5'10 G, Baton Rouge LA
    25 ppg, 9 rpg, 7 apg, 6 spg.
Sylvia Fowles, 6'4 C, Miami FL
    Top, top notch recruit
Erlana Larkins, 6'2 F, Palm Beach FL,
18 ppg, 15 rpg. Another top, top recruit
Samantha Mahoney, 5'9 SG, West Bloomfield MI
    20 ppg, 7 rpg, 4 apg, 3 bpg. 52% FG
Jade Perry, 6'3 C, Greenville KY
    21 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 3.5 bpg.

Most pressing needs will be at the point where Temeka Johnson has remained firmly established for the past three years. Perhaps Long or Whitfield will emerge as back-ups during this upcoming year but if not, the acquisition of Chaney may be essential. Also, Hodges is by far the best 3 pt. threat on the team. It will be interesting to note if Mitchell, Long, Whitfield or Beirnacka are consistent hitters from beyond the perimeter.

Regarding recruits. Fowles is also being recruited by UCONN and Tennsessee which gives you some idea of her potential. Landing her would be huge (in every sense) and she would probably have a starting position almost immediately.
