At a quick glance those clowns seem to think that the PAC 10 is a difficult conference??? I'd love to start out the season by blanking these pac 10'ers 61-0.
you guys can't be serious.. You guys aren' really that big of dicks, are you? Good Lord, this is a great game for both teams...let's get it done. Instead of playing another La. based directional school, play a mid to upper tier Pac 10 team (trust me, this will not be another Arizona waxing, I can assure you). Nobody up here thinks we are going to win this game, but it will be fun to watch, and it will (as much as your provincialism about the SEC might suggest otherwise) be beneficial to both teams SOS. In addition, Beav fans travel well, and I know we would all love a trip down to your terrific state...I know I'll be there. This game is a no-brainer, I hope it happens. BTW...congrats on a great season, I watched most of your games and you were kick-ass to watch. Too bad you couldn't have mixed it up with SC.
I hope it happens as well. My comment is just that I don't think we'll give up 500 yards of offense the way that USC did. That's not an unrealistic statement. We didn't give up anywhere near that to ANYONE this year. If I said we'd hold them to under 200 yards or something, then that would be uncalled for. I'm just surprised that a BCS Conference school would consider a trip like that without a return date.
Again, I am not saying that we go down there and teach LSU anything they don't already know. This is a 20 point spread, and I would be hard-pressed to take the points. Playing the defending National Champs in their house on opening day is not exactly a formula for an upset. That does not change the fact that it is still a pretty good game. Say what you will about the Pac, but we did manage to beat Texas, Michigan and Viginia Tech (not to mention our hidden gem against powerful Lobos of New Mexico) in our bowl season. The powers that be respect the pac ten and your win against us would be considered a good one. You never know how big that might be at the end of next season, because we will certainly have a top ten strength of schedule (if we get you guys, it means that we will be playing the top two teams from this season...three of the top ten, and four of the top 12). the reason that we do not demand a return game is simply because, at this point, our stadium is too small to accomodate you. we are in the process of raising cash to dump about 100 mil into expansion, so every game like this helps our bottom line. this would be a big deal for the Beavs..
If the Beavers are willing to play us without a return date, I think that's a no-brainer to schedule that one. Much better than watching ULL or worse yet Southern as an opponent.
Arkansas, a mid-level SEC team, beat Texas by more than WSU, and the game was played at Texas. Virginia Tech tanked this year. They finished the season, what? 1-4 with their only win coming to Temple in overtime? As far as prestige goes, thumping Oregon State would score us some points, but in my view, it's not much more impressive than beating an average CUSA team.
I think Oregon State would be a good one to schedule. Much better replacement than we have been getting for these "back out" games. Western Illinois? UL-Monroe? The Citadel? Think about the positives instead of the negatives. If we get Oregon State, we are moving up in competition. I think Oregon State would probably be THE BEST team you could hope to get that wouldn't ask for a return date.
