    Matt Flynn = Matt Mauck
    Early Doucet = Michael Clayton
    Glen Dorsey = Chad Lavalais
    Craig Steltz = Jack Hunt
    Trindon Holliday = Skyler Green

Our running game is going to be a lot stronger with Williams, Murphy, Scott, Hester, and Broussard. Our corners, while not as good as Daniels and Webster, will be strong because of returning starters Zenon, and Jackson. Our linebackers: Sanders, Riley, Beckwith, Cutrera, Highsmith, and Odom could be some of the best linebackers we have ever had on one team.

Is it football season yet?!?! :geauxtige:helmet::geauxtige

    I say 2007 = 2007

    Matt Flynn = Matt Flynn
    Early Doucet = Early Doucet
    Glen Dorsey = Glen Dorsey
    Craig Steltz = Craig Steltz
    Trindon Holliday = Trindon Holliday
    Tyson Jackson = Tyson Jackson
    Keiland Williams = Keiland Williams
    Jacob Hester = Jacob Hester
    Chevis Jackson = Chevis Jackson
    Ali Highsmith = Ali Highsmith
    Derry Beckwith = Derry Beckwith
    Luke Sanders = Luke Sanders
    Will Arnold = Will Arnold
    Herman Johnson = Herman Johnson

    etc.......

Its so hard to compare teams from different seasons because the competition is different, but when a program wins a NC, as LSU did in 2003, every other LSU team will be compared in some manner to that NC team.

In my estimation if this the offensive line is the key to this 2007 team rivaling the success of the 2003 team. I know the losses at WR and QB are the most glaring holes to fill but if the OL can dominate like the 2003 line (Petterman, Reed, Wilkerson, Whitworth) and allow the RBs to dominate, then Flynn should have an easy transition into the starting role and the WRs will have an easier time getting open down the field.

I agree. Our running game didn't get going early last season, and I'm not sure how much was young backs or out of shape backs, or how much was inexperience and lack of depth in the o-line. The running game came around late in the year, improvement in both o-line play and RB. Losing Zamahl Thomas will hurt by losing a quality back up this season, but we have signed several other good young guys in the last 2 years that should help. Then there is the new o-line coach and how well he does.

All the pieces are there, but they have to fulfill their potential. I think Flynn can be another Mauck, maybe better, but it remains to be seen. He could also be a little worse over 12 games. I'll take the optimistic view for now.

I don't see a game on the schedule where we are a clear underdog. There are at least 4 where we will have to fight real hard and have a little luck to prevail.
