Can't take credit for finding this (off of another site), but here it is nonetheless:

Go down about half-way for the Stoops comment.

Wonder if this is why he didn't make the appearance on ABC yesterday, for fear of answering this sort of question.

Bob Stoops has also said that he is against Conference Championships unless it's a level playing field and all the major conferences have them.

So what, Mr P.? Being against them is no excuse for losing them, much less getting blown out. Do you honestly think your bringing up that quote makes up for Stoops being completely two-faced? Please, give me a break. He just wants to rationalize OU getting in the Sugar. I don't buy USC being a "clear-cut" number one by any means ( just like I didn't buy OU being invincible), but they are more deserving at this point that OU.

    I agree,
I hate the human side of this.......

USC played 1 top 25 team all year and had a weaker schedule
    than OU and LSU.

I don't agree with OU either since they didn't win thier champ
    game.

This whole thing is just a mess now and I will really hate usc
if they win and wind up sharing the NC with us.

The only way to solve this now is if we were to play them
after we beat OU and if they beat Michigan

Why is the Big 12 CCG meaningless?

    1) You don't have to win it inorder to have an opportunity for a National Championship (see OU this year).

    2) You don't even have to play in it inorder to have an opportunity to play for the National Championship (see Nebraska 2001).

If your sole desire for the season is just to win the Conference Title, then I guess the game is important.

In your quest for the National Championship, It really doesn't penalize you at all to lose or much less not even play in the CCG.

I'm not griping about OU getting to play in the Sugar Bowl though. I think it is funnier than Hell.

    Longlive the BCS!

    Longlive worthless Conference Championship Games!

Something to chew on Jwho77 - since you seem so adamant that USC should be there.
IF the shitty Pac-10 had a conference championship, and USC beat the second best team in the pac-10 a second time, then USC is tasting sugar right now. There is no doubt that their SOS would be higher and they, not LSU would have gotten in. You can bitch all you want, but it is not right for OU to take on K-State while the Pac-10 is handed over to USC.
I also want to ask you a question in regards to USC being more deserving. This is from a Sooner fan
"Should we hand over the Pac-10 championship to Cal? NO? Oh so NOW you want to look at what a team did the entire season, not just on one day"
Truth is USC lost to the worst opponent, and to boot had the worst SOS. This system is shitty, no doubt. But I am not buying all the shit OU is taking right now.

I guess it really only penalizes you in the human polls. Cause the computers treat it like any other game.

First of all, conferences with a CG are at a disadvantage by having to play an extra game. Granted, LSU winning the SECCG put us over USC, but more times than not it will hurt teams having to play this extra game.

Secondly, I'm not convinced it's a good thing to say that you must win your conference to play for the MNC. What if a team wins their conference with 3 losses, like LSU did in 2001 ... should they be in the title game over a one-loss team who didn't win their conference, like OU?

Even if we had a playoff system, we will still have this problem with conference championship games affecting who should be in the playoffs. IMO, conferences without a CG have an advantage.

Do you really think that a 3 loss team would be playing for the MNC?
