What a great football expereince! The drive from Houston isn't any fun (especially since Texas Tech was just gettin' handled by Mizzou, every update gave me more reason to add more kick to my coke) but the game day atmosphere in BR is one of the best I've seen.

    Pre-game:
Great food, lots of booze, EXPANSIVE tailgating! Great way to get ready for a game. And Great folks, it was nice to meet a number of LSU and Auburn fans, everyone was more than generous, thanks very much for the hospitality. The band comming down the hill was an exciting entry into the stadium, all the gold & purple just gettin' all jazzed up right before the game. The scene around the stadium was top notch, I didn't see any fights but fans from both teams were getting really defensive and the intensity was high. One thing that did surprise me and I wish I would've known before hand, tickets were being sold for face value long before kickoff right up to game time. We spent way to much on ebay for ours, for a game of this magnitude going in I thought they would be at least double face.

Game: When I think of a game in BR this is exactly what I had envisioned, hot, sticky, nasty weather and very intense fans. LSU fans and team rocked the place, DV has got to be one of the best home field advantages in NCAA. The crowd was into it from 0-0, to 21 - 0, til 31-7. The Auburn fans stuck it out too, very classy and they stood by their team, even when Tubberville obviously started to call plays not to win but to just get off the field. (Still dont undetstand the two 4th down calls in the 1st quarter and then you punt on a 4th & 2 in the 4th quarter. And after Auburn did score, a deep kick? Why not try to win, take some chances and stop playing for a score board, looks like he quit) Great to see the LSU Tigers roll, both sides of the ball were VERY impresive, but major props to the D (50 net rushing yards for AU) WOW! Great wins LSU, I wish Tech could get a little of that D.

Thanks for the great experience, and what a great cover (LSU -3 was my number). I'll be pulling for the Tigers here on out. SEC Baby!

I think the bad weather made some fans stay home and people arrived with extra tickets. I saw plenty of tickets available, too, mostly singles. It sure wasn't that way at the Georgia game, where some definite scalping went on!

I haven't been to Houston in several months but I have to go this week. Is in now possible to get from Orange to the Louisiana State line in less than an hour on the way back to Baton Rouge?
I hope they have finally finished all that construction.

The bad part on I-10 now is not till you get into Louisiana. They have the road down to one lane for 5 miles before the actual construction, then when you get there there is one guy staring at the ground. If your lucky he might have a tool in his hand. I have run into bad construction just outside of Vinton.

When I was coming from Austin on I10 that is exactly what we saw.......1 guy doing nothing. We were pretty pissed after sitting in traffic for an hour.

Glad you could make it down

It's too bad you came to a game where we didn't get to play Pre-Game, our alma mater, pregame band/crowd cheers, because of the combination of rain and t.v.

It is one of the more exciting things during the whole gameday atmosphere.

The cool part was the band played pregame when the team was coming though....when the players realized it was pregame it made them even more pumped.

The Jennings area has horrible construction right now. It'll slow you down about an hour if you stay on I-10. I think there's a website that updates construction in LA, like www.dotd.com or something like that. As the signs say, "Consider an alternative route." Good advice but I wanted to shout back, "Consider having at least two lanes open on I-10." Great weekend other than that though.
