Summarized from the Bleacher Report link listed at the link below. 1. Mett is for real. (If you didn't know then, you know now) 2. Defense needs some serious work. (Duh. What happened to DB U?) 3. There has been a Kadron Boone sighting. (2 TDs after having one catch this season) 4. The offense will need to carry the defense. (We finally get a great offense, then the defense has an off year) 5. Chavis needs to re-evaluate late game defensive calls. (Couldn't agree more. Our last 3 losses to Bama, Clemson, and UGA were because we played soft coverage in all of them) 6. Jarvis Landry is the best receiver in the country. ('Nuff said) 7. Special Teams was the difference between winning and losing. (OBJ fumble was the turning point in the game. After scoring the tying TD, then holding UGA to the first 3-out all day, the fumble allowed UGA to steal a possession AND score a TD) 8. O-line needs work. (Trouble rushing in first half, too many pre snap penalties all year, and trouble protecting Mett yesterday.) 9. We have a lot to build on. (We still control our own destiny have bye weeks before both Gump and A&M games. Hopefully, the extra time to prep is a difference maker) 10. We may not have seen the last of UGA. (Win out and we meet them on a neutral field in ATL. It's still Ga, but it ain't Athens) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...m_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=lsu-football
I'll tell you what I took away from this Saturday. LSU and Georgia are the 2 best teams in the SEC. A&M allowed Arkansas to score 33 points. Ole miss held Bama to 3 field goals in the 1st half and only 2 tds in that game. Our backs struggled covering the pass and our dl didn't do to well against the run in the 1st half but a lot better in the 2nd. Offense and the play calling were pretty damn good. Zach rocked all game despite being sacked 4 times. We lost by 3 but I knew after watching the Ga SC game and the Bama A&M game that Georgia would define out team. I see us winning out and playing Ga again in December. Our defense is better than A&M and more consistent than Bamas. Our offense is better than both. Chavis needs to let our backs go man to man and forget that zone shit. Defense needs to go back to wrap up tackling. This shoulder tackling stuff is crap. ODB knows that drop was a game changer. I'll bet it doesn't happen again. Our SOS keeps us in the hunt. We still have 3 ranked games to play so that 1 loss doesn't hurt us to much. Bama can't take a loss. A&M already has there's, with another one on the way.
I didn't learn anything. I saw the game play out exactly as it did. Except I had us winning the turnover battle and therefore coming out the victor. Oh that muffed punt. I've had Mett as a first round draft pick since the 2nd game of the season. I said the defense was way too soft and way too small and it would come to bite us vs Georgia.
The game also played out the way I thought it would. I hoped we'd win, and we came close, but I never got nervous during the game or upset after we lost. I'd have preferred to have won, of course, but we confirmed what we already felt about the team. We have a great offense for the first time in forever, and our defense is our Achilles Heel.
Great list but you forgot to add: 11. We have a Field Goal kicker. That 12-year old lookin sucker is 6 for 6 this year and kicked great in a hostile environment.
Our o line was fine, the fullbacks and tight ends missed alot of assignments on the blitz, Georgia stacked the box most of the game with at least 8 people.
The fact that Les allowed his D- Coord to stay with that Zone throughout the contest, is beyond my comprehension… LSU is one of the few teams in the world that has the talent to match-up and play in your face football (on your side of the line-of-scrimmage), and Les choose to turn the Ga game into a coaching contest…………. Mark had better thank his lucky stars that Les is a fun-loving, entertaining type of guy……………
exactly, our guys dont seem to be smart enough to play a zone. Welter, Martin, Loston, Eugene, should be running hills this morning.
