LOL, I haven't fished or hunted for almost 40 years, (I still miss fishing) I've just wondered about bamboo rods,.. I was thinking that the bamboo had some special quality, but finding a perfect piece of bamboo was difficult. Thanks for the info.

Yes, today is a very good day to be a Duck. I think we are just 2 breaks away from the big game.

Hello DuckFan - just saw the message - sorry for the delay in responding. Bamboo Fly rods are hand made items. Most require about 80 hours to build. The most important factor in the price is the maker of the rod. Some vintage rods sell for $10,000. Most sell for around $1000 - $2000. You can buy a really nice modern bamboo fly rod for about $750 to $900. Sounds expensive, but modern graphite rods sell for about the same $$ when you get into the really good ones. Depending on the makers and the exact model of the rods you saw, they may have been bargains - or they may have been over priced. It's a weird facet of the collecting world since fishermen USE their old and new rods - they are also considered an investment by some. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Your Ducks looked great last night - congrats on the big win. The Ducks made Luck suck.

Question, I was in a used sports store the other day, they had a used bamboo fly rod on sale for $1450, and another for $1100.
They didn't look all that special, so it must be performance related, but I still don't get it, why they are worth so much?
