I'm not sure if you youngsters will remember this, but the closest thing I'v seen to it was a ball Brandon Larsen hit it the '97 CWS. I don't think that thing's landed yet. :thumb:

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I believe that Texas' bracket was tougher than ours. They did go undefeated in theirs as well against ASU and UNC, both teams that I believe are better competition than Ark and Va. Were they lucky at times, sure, but what good team isn't. They won twice when the kid Leake from ASU, who has Strausberg type numbers pitched.

I know we're playing at another level right now and I do believe we'll win. I just don't think we'll see 14-5 and 9-1 type scores against them. The games will be much closer. I hope I am wrong.

Won't be much suspense when LSU is leading 8-1 going into the bottom of the 9th Monday night.

Take your 25 inning victory and stick it up your.....

I've watched most of the Texas games in the postseason (wife is a Longhorn grad...) and I have to say that while UT is a good team, they don't have the offense that we have. If our pitching resembles anything like what we've seen the last few weeks then we will take this series in 2. I really think they may tee off on Ross, though. If they can get to Ranaudo or Coleman then we will have trouble... if those two take care of business then we are good to go.

Everyone is talking about how LSU has handled everything and how Texas has pulled off late wins.

What about the large number of errors this supposed incredible Texas defense has committed?

This was the #1 defense in the country or something to that effect, and they have committed 7 errors in the CWS alone.

That was my thought. Texas is a fine baseball program and they have a good team in the CWS finals. Certainly, they are capable of beating LSU.

But I don't see it. They don't seem to have the production. And LSU won't need 5 hours to get a run across.

This is just a homer beat writer whistling through the graveyard. :hihi:

To prove that I'm not as young as you might think, I'll do ya one better. Lyle Mouton in a 1991 midweek game hit one out of left field that is said to have broken a window in the student housing building behind the field. I was sitting just a couple of rows up in the grand stand, aligned with the 3rd base line. Our view of the shot could not have been better. We never actually saw it descend from flight, which makes sense when you realize that means it went beyond the lights.
I would absolutely agree that they were in the tougher bracket. ASU also has Josh Spense, a lefty that throws breaking balls almost exclusively. That was one guy I didn't want LSU to have to face. But at any rate, I think the fact that we just rolled through our bracket the way that we did still proves that we're playing the best ball right now. The other teams, regardless of seeding, draft picks, etc. are all at their best when they're in Omaha. After all, the two teams that we beat also both beat the no. 2 seed. But I also think that you are correct in saying that we probably won't be winning by such large margins.

    Luck?

How many of their starters bat over .300?

Seems to me Texas has bad luck...If they had good luck they'd be playing someone besides LSU. :hihi:.

one member asked if anyone knew anything about LSU. I said "I do...we're gonna win."
    the crybaby posts..."keep it up."
like he's gonna...yikes...ban me or something. :nope:

The Tigers are certainly playing with a lot of swagger and focus. I am impressed with the way Manieri is able to keep the team in maintaining focus. I feel it is also the leadership on the team, the competitiveness of Coleman(+ hunger) and Ranauldo, the calmness and smartness of Schimpf, Dean being himself , and the fire of Mahtook and Hanover has a lot to do with the way the team is now. And also the many other contributors on the team, like the three pitchers Bradshaw,Cain,Byrd, that can step up at the right moment. Just seems like a complete package!

......wew, I need a drink now..........

BTW, what's the scouting report on the Texas pitchers?
