For all the marbles. As the weary-eyed among you know, the SEC has totally dropped the ball on TV coverage for this. Your only option is the free live feed provided by Dave Neil holding a web cam on a stick in his seat at the top of the grandstand on the 1st base line. Hosted by the SEC lacrosse radio team. :cuss: Honestly, it's so bad Hawthorne is a better option. At least he's trying. Gluttons for punishment can get the feed HERE if the sec website hasn't broken again. It will be on tv in TAPE DELAY ONLY on your FSN affiliate at the original scheduled time. And oh yeah, it's gonna rain again. Best guesses for starting pitcher.
I'm not getting my hopes up, but if you have the sports pack on DirecTV then try channel 650 at Noon. Since Sports South is doing ACC baseball at Noon, DirecTV setup an alternate channel in case the ACC game ran over. They were scheduled to show the SECCG on channels 649 and 650. Nothing else is scheduled on channel 650 at Noon, so if they are willing they can show the game live. Like I said, I'm skeptical but it's worth a look at least...
I've been at every game so far, always 1-2 rows behind our dugouts (was on TV a TON apparently during the S Carolina game) and can say that we have had a blast out here. It's nice to think about how we've eliminated half of the tournament ourselves, and how players like Nolan Cain have come out and done such a great job at keeping us alive. We can't remember the last time he threw for so long, if ever. Can't wait for the shot at revenge tomorrow noon, but I can say that win or lose, I'm proud of this team. GEAUX TIGERS!!
Well the early start screws me up Hope for a rain delay. My son's basketball semis is at noon and if we win we play again at 3.
It's because the guy never keeps you updated on anything but what is going on immediately in front of him at that moment. He never gives you the game situation ( who's winning, the score etc.). If you tune in the middle of a game, you have to wait way too long before you can find out what's happening. This is ok only if you're watching TV with the TV sound down and the radio sound up because usually there's a graphic in the corner of the screen telling you what inning, who's winning and by what score. Or if you are so into the game that you are paying attention from the very beginning and are in an environment where you're not distracted from paying attention. This is poor announcing and it's because the guy has the mentality that all he has to do is describe what's happening right in front of him as if he's talking to the color guy who's sitting next to him the whole time. But in reality he's announcing to thousands or hundreds of thousands of people who are tuning in and out and back in again every couple of minutes. If you're at work, and your attention is drawn away from the game for a while (an inning or two) and you have a moment to come back to the game you're in trouble. If you're driving in the car with your wife and teenage kids who can't stand to listen to anything but the music stations and you get force them to wait while you try to catch up on the game score and situation...you're in trouble! All because he fails to live up to half of his responsibility as an announcer. You see, there are two MAJOR responsibilities of any good sports announcer: 1) Play by play announcing... describing what's happening on the field as if you're doing a favor for a friend of yours who's blind and sitting right next to you at the game. 2) Situational announcing... Giving an update on where the game is scoring wise, inning wise, who's winning wise as if that blind friend of yours drank too much and keeps passing out every couple of minutes or so and keeps waking up and asking you "Hey what's the score?...Are we still winning?...How much time is left?...What inning is it?" It's a big failure if you don't care about your blind, drunk friend enough to tell him... especially if your blind drunk friend is PAYING you to help him listen to the game because he's incapable of paying rapt attention under the circumstances. It's comes across as if Hawthorne doesn't care enough about you if you can't keep up yourself because you really are blind, drunk and undeserving and it's a bother to keep you updated. You see how quickly this can morph into a respect and dignity issue here. The day before yesterday, I was at work and couldn't pay attention to the game because even though the restaurant was slow at the time I still had a few orders coming in that I had to cook. I also had to direct my employees what to do in what order, what was more important and why, and teach one new employee how to do things in the first place. My attention was drawn away from the game, but I was able to return my attention back to it intermittently. It took me, I think, over an hour, to find out what was going on because he only said the score at the end of the inning...and even then several innings went by and he did say the score (5-2) but not who was ahead. I was totally lost and frustrated because under the circumstances I HAD to listen to the radio... I had no choice...I also had no clue what was happening. And to make things worse the unenthusiastic tone of his voice made me reall think we were losing 5-2. I was stunned when I was able to get on the internet and find out we were winning!! This isn't just an isolated incident. It happens all the time. It even happens in his football announcing, but is harder to notice because of footballs faster pace that commands more attention. Even though the guy LOVES LSU, I don't think the guy likes baseball that much because he comes across as not caring enough to do a good job. It's a correctable problem...all that has to happen is his color man say the game situation more often, or his producer (who's on the earphone constantly with him) remind him to announce the game situation more often. It's a team effort and a team failure. I'm not the only one here who notices this. Berge, excuse my polemic on the subject of Hawthorne's announcing. I took the time because I sincerely hope someone brings this serious complaint to his team's attention. It's easily correctable. I'm not trying to bash him. I personally love it when a customer of mine cares enough to point out a problem with their food rather than saying "everything's fine" and never coming back.
